Lee Westwood on simply wild Bryson DeChambeau rumour? "Codswallop"
A crazy rumour is circulating that Bryson DeChambeau has rejected a contract extension with LIV Golf and is set to rejoin the PGA Tour.
Lee Westwood offered a dim verdict on a crazy rumour that is circulating about Bryson DeChambeau's future at LIV Golf.
In the most recent edition of their podcast, Pull Hook claimed DeChambeau's request for a $280m contract extension was rejected by LIV's Saudi financiers.
The reigning U.S. Open champion joined the PIF-backed league in 2022 and it is understood his contract expires at the end of this season.
Some have claimed DeChambeau's contract actually runs out at the end of the 2026 campaign.
DeChambeau is not the only high-profile player whose contract may be up for renewal with LIV Golf.
It will be interesting to see whether the likes of Cameron Smith and Brooks Koepka will remain LIV players after this season.
All this could be a moot point if the reports are true that the PGA Tour will soon announce a deal with the Saudi PIF.
Tiger Woods has suggested in recent weeks LIV players could be back on the PGA Tour at some point this year.
One man who likely has more knowledge of the situation than others is European Ryder Cup legend Lee Westwood.
Westwood was among the first wave of LIV recruits alongside Ian Poulter, Martin Kaymer and Graeme McDowell.
"Codswallop is very applicable here," Westwood wrote in a thread on X.
Westwood wasn't the only one to think the claim was complete nonsense.
"Bryson is all in on LIV Golf," one user wrote. "He would never give up his YouTube channel to rejoin the PGA Tour."
Some were thrilled at the prospect of seeing DeChambeau back.
"I hope this is true," another wrote. "I would be thrilled to see him play more than a couple of times a year.
"Love him or hate him, he is entertaining and the PGA Tour is not much fun without him."

Bryson turns down Netflix
In other DeChambeau news, it has been revealed that he turned down the opportunity to take part in series three of Full Swing.
The latest edition of the documentary series was uploaded to the streaming platform on 25 February.
DeChambeau's battle against Rory McIlroy at the 2024 U.S. Open, unsurprisingly, featured heavily.
McIlroy's disappointment was laid bare.
But the executive producer of the show, Chad Mumm, has since revealed that DeChambeau turned down the chance to be involved in the show.
"He never sat down for an interview despite our best efforts," Mumm told The Mirror.
He added: "I think we did a really good effort of telling his story without his direct point of view
"There is so much media. He is great in press conferences, he produces so much content on YouTube. It is still a really good portrayal of Bryson.
"In particular, as he matured, and redefined himself in front of the public. We do a really good job of capturing that.
"Would I rather he sat down for an interview? Absolutely, but he said no.
"We did the best we could with what we got. I still think it's probably the deepest portrait of Bryson as both a player and figure that anyone has ever seen before."
