Jon Rahm was reduced to tears after landing his first LIV Golf title at JCB Golf & Country Club in Rochester, England.

Rahm, 29, was handed LIV Golf UK on a plate after his Legion XIII teammate Tyrrell Hatton three-jabbed from 70 feet on the par-4 18th.

Hatton, 32, was left with a testing four-footer for par from above the hole but he missed the putt on the low side.

The resulting bogey saw Legion XIII captain Rahm prevail by one stroke.

After watching Hatton miss the crucial par putt, Rahm watched on and applauded the Englishman out of respect.

He then put his arm around his caddie Adam Hayes before shedding a tear.

Rahm missed a short three-footer of his own on the penultimate hole but it mattered little at the end of the round.

The Spaniard closed with a solid 4-under 67 to finish the week on 13-under par.

Hatton's bogey on 18 saw him fall into a tie for second with Joaquin Niemann and Cameron Smith.

The win marks Rahm's first individual title since he joined the breakaway Saudi golf league this season.

Rahm reportedly joined LIV Golf in a deal worth $600m.

Earlier in the week, Rahm said he was not surprised he had yet to win on LIV Golf simply because the standard is so high.

A visibly emotional and relieved Rahm said of his LIV Golf UK victory:

"To finally get one done. You never want those feeling to go on for too long. To get over the hump, it feels incredible. It’s been a fantastic week and a fantastic year and it’s big relief that it’s happened."

Rahm revealed a complication with his wife's pregnancy earlier this month.

Despite only winning once this season, Rahm has impressively lived up to his star billing with 10 consecutive top-10 finishes in all of the LIV Golf League events he has completed in.

He was forced to withdraw from LIV Golf Houston last month due to a foot injury.

Rahm finished T7 at The Open last weekend, marking his best result in the majors this year.

He finished T45 at The Masters, missed the cut at the US PGA and WD from the US Open.

Rahm's Legion XIII also landed the team prize at LIV Golf UK.

It marked a fourth win for Legion XIII in their debut season.

Legion XIII, which also comprises Caleb Surratt and Kieran Vincent, finished the week at 26-under par.

That was three shots clear of Cam Smith's Ripper GC.

England's Paul Casey finished solo fifth.

Earlier in the week, he said UK golf fans were 'starved of golf' in 2024.

But that comment was quickly shut down by a couple of reporters.
