Dustin Johnson's former LIV Golf teammate Pat Perez has landed a new gig for the 2025 campaign.

Perez joined the breakaway tour in June 2022 and, for the past three years, has been part of Johnson's 4 Aces side.

He avoided relegation by the skin of his teeth last season but he was deemed surplus to requirements by the former Masters champion.

LIV Golf confirmed on 27 January that Perez, 48, will now swap his clubs for a microphone as he will join the broadcast team as an on-course analyst.

"I'm full-steam on this thing," Perez said. "I'm really excited to do it. It's a perfect mid-life restart for me."

He added: "[I] thought about doing TV for years now

"I feel like I'm at Q-School again, starting a new career.

"It's certainly going to be a learning process.

"I'm excited to bring my personality to it. We're going to have fun."

Johnson made the decision to replace Perez with Belgium's Thomas Pieters last month.

Harold Varner III and fellow green jacket winner Patrick Reed are also part of the four-man squad.

Perez claimed he felt like he had won the lottery when he joined the PIF-backed league in 2022.

It is not known how much cash he received up front for joining LIV.

There are rumours that it was reportedly between $10-15m.

His LIV career saw him make 34 appearances and he banked more than $17m in official prize money.

His decision to join LIV was particularly eyebrow-raising as, when he was a PGA Tour member, he categorically stated that he would not jump ship.

"F--- no," came his reply when he was asked on social media if he would be "getting on the Saudi train."

The comment was referencing the fact LIV is bankrolled by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.

Perez labelled LIV as 'kind of a joke'.

Then he turned up to a LIV Golf draft party wearing a shirt made out of dollar bills.

He was later among a group of 11 golfers - including Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau - to sue the PGA Tour over their suspensions for playing LIV events.

Perez later withdrew his name from the litigation, saying he did not fully think through his decision.

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan was also heavily criticised by Perez at several points during the golf wars.

"We don't give a damn how he feels," Perez said in April 2023 when he was asked about Monahan and how LIV were impacting the men's game.

"We know how he feels about us, so it's mutual."

Perez will join Arlo White, David Feherty, Jerry Foltz, Dom Boulet, Su-Ann Heng and Rachel Drummond as part of the broadcast team.

LIV Golf have also recently signed Rick Shiels as a brand ambassador

Their first event will be played in Riyadh next month.
