Bryson DeChambeau trolls PGA Tour over latest announcement
Bryson DeChambeau's invitation to play a PGA Tour event for content creators before the Tour Championship hasn't arrived, according to the LIV Golf pro.
Bryson DeChambeau joked he didn't receive his invitation to the inaugural 'Creator Classic' ahead of the PGA Tour's season finale.
On 30 July, the North American circuit announced the most popular golf creators from around the globe will face off in a nine-hole competition ahead of the Tour Championship at East Lake.
The tournament will be broadcast live on the PGA Tour's YouTube page and several other platforms.
Creators in the field so far include Tyler Toney from Dude Perfect, George and Wesley Bryan, Fat Perez, Bob Does Sports and Garrett Clark, Brad Dalke and Sean Walsh from Good Good.
"I'm waiting for my invite," joked DeChambeau, 30, after the announcement.
DeChambeau, who joined the rival LIV Golf League in 2022, is now among the most popular golf creators on YouTube.
He recently managed to get former US president Donald Trump to appear on the latest episode of his 'Break 50' series.
When DeChambeau set the video live he had around 800,000 subscribers.
At the time of writing, he's now surpassed 1.1m subs and the video is closing in on 10m views.
More about the Creator Classic
The tournament will take place on the eve of the Tour Championship, which sees the top 30 PGA Tour professionals who made it through the FedEx Cup playoffs compete for a shot of being the FedEx Cup champion.
Viktor Hovland is the reigning champion.
The Tour Championship will be held over Aug 29–Sept 1, with the winner receiving $18m.
The YouTube stars will play the newly restored East Lake Golf Club in the same conditions of the pros.
The tournament will consist of eight holes of gross stroke play, then a playoff between the top four finishers.
This is not the first time the PGA Tour has delved into the YouTube space this season.
In April, several popular YouTubers took part in a qualifier for the PGA Tour's inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic.
The likes of Grant Horvat, Peter Finch, Micah Morris and the aforementioned George Bryan took part.
Veteran Korn Ferry Tour pro Matt Atkins won the qualifier.
