'It sucks' Tyrrell Hatton urges LIV Golf to make a big change next year
England’s Tyrrell Hatton wants the layout of the 18th at JCB Golf & Country Club changed after he narrowly missed out on a home victory at LIV Golf UK on Sunday.
Tyrrell Hatton has urged new LIV Golf venue JCB Golf & Country Club to make a change to its 18th hole after he narrowly missed out on a home victory at LIV Golf UK on Sunday.
Hatton, 32, made a costly three-putt bogey on the par-4 18th to lose by one shot to his Legion XIII captain Jon Rahm, who finally captured his first LIV Golf title at the 11th attempt.
The fiery Englishman believes his tee shot down the final hole did not deserve to end up where it did.
Hatton's tee shot initially landed in the fairway but the ball then trickled down the slope where it eventually nestled into the semi rough.
He admitted it made the approach shot much harder to gauge correct distance than had his ball been in the fairway, where he considers it should have been.

Hatton came up some 70 feet short of the pin with his approach shot.
It left a devilish putt short of a big ridge.
He putted up to some five feet but it left a slick left to righter for the return.
Hatton would miss the par putt on the low side and he finished one shot behind Rahm in a tie for second with Cameron Smith and Joaquin Niemann.

After agonisingly missing out on a second LIV Golf title in his last three starts on the breakaway Saudi league, Hatton admitted the defeat was a tough one to take on home soil, especially after what unfolded down the 18th.
Hatton considers everyone in the field would like to see a change made to the layout of the 462-yard par-4 18th, at least where the tee shot is concerned, when LIV Golf heads back to JCB Golf & Country Club again in 2025.
JCB Golf & CC in Rochester, England, was hosting its first-ever LIV Golf event this year.
Hatton said after the tournament:
"I've hit a perfect tee shot over the line that we're all meant to hit.
"I'd say probably the 18th is one hole that I think 54 players would like to see changed before we come back next year.
"I don't think the tee shot that I hit there deserves to be in the semi and I'm playing a guessing game if it's going to come out with no spin or with spin.
"Obviously, I guessed wrong and it leaves it in a really tricky position to two-putt, and unfortunately wasn't able to hole that five-footer to force a playoff.
"Yeah, it sucks."
Hatton's comments mark the second consecutive tournament where he has taken a pop at the setup of a golf course.
He called into question the setup of a number of holes at Royal Troon during The Open.
A week before that, Hatton admitted LIV Golf needs to consider a change to the schedule where LIV Golf Andalucia at a tree-lined Valderrama is concerned the week before a completely different links test at The Open.
Despite missing out on a LIV Golf UK win, Hatton did at least take consolation from Legion XIII winning a fourth team event in 2024.
Hatton also made just shy of £2m at LIV Golf UK, which went some way to soften the blow.
He picked up £1.2m for his T2 in the individual tournament and then made an additional £584,000 for the team win.

Hatton and Rahm have now both won more than $10m on LIV Golf this season.
Rahm is the captain of Legion XIII.
Caleb Surratt and Kieran Vincent also make up the team, although Vincent is on the verge of being axed.
Greg Norman has fired a stern warning to players currently in the Drop Zone on LIV Golf.
The win marked Rahm's first individual title on LIV Golf since he joined for a reported $600m fee this season.
The former World No.1 was reduced to tears once Hatton had missed his par putt on 18.
Rahm then quickly went after his critics.
Hatton also joined LIV Golf earlier this season for a fee believed to have been 10 times less than Rahm's deal.
While Hatton was more than pleased to see Rahm pick up a first individual win on LIV Golf, and Legion XIII win the team event, it still didn't hide his disappointment in not being able to close out his home event.
Hatton added:
"It's obviously still pretty raw for me as an individual.
"It's kind of hard to put that to one side.
"Golf is generally an individual sport, and ultimately your individual results will reflect what happens within the team.
"I'm really happy for the guys to have a solid weekend and for us to win our fourth event as a team, but it doesn't change how I feel towards my own individual performance.
"It sucks to bogey the last in front of your home crowd to effectively miss out on a playoff.
"That's unfortunately the reality of my situation at the moment."
Hatton's latest result sees him move to third in the season-long standings on LIV Golf.
Joaquin Niemann is the current leader, with Rahm in second.
Rahm is competing for Spain in the Men's Olympic Golf Tournament at Le Golf National in Paris, France, this week.
Hatton did not qualify for Team GB, who are represented by Matt Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood.
