Revealed: PGA Tour star Viktor Hovland rocks up in Dubai with new golf coach
Viktor Hovland spotted on range at Dubai Desert Classic with new golf swing coach TJ Yeaton.
Viktor Hovland has rocked up at this week's Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour with a new golf swing coach, TJ Yeaton.
Hovland, 27, confirmed two weeks ago that he had split with his long-time golf coach Joe Mayo for a second time in the space of 12 months.
The European Ryder Cup star and Mayo first split in late 2023 after a remarkable season in which Hovland won three times and was crowned the FedEx Cup champion.
Hovland then endured a spell of misery on the PGA Tour and he therefore decided to return to Mayo in the spring of 2024.
Their work together appeared to immediately pay dividends, with Hovland contending at the US PGA Championship at Valhalla a month removed from his Masters meltdown where he shot 71-81 at Augusta National to miss the cut by a country mile.
But Hovland confirmed on 2 January ahead of The Sentry in Hawaii that he had parted ways with Mayo once again.
Their split is said to have happened just before Christmas.
Hovland made the revelation to Norwegian news outlet Norsk Golf.
He also told the publication he now feels as though he "does not need anyone holding his hand anymore."
But despite that comment, the World No.8 appears to have gone back on his word by commencing work with a new swing coach, TJ Yeaton.

The DP World Tour's social media team posted a video of Hovland working closely with Yeaton on the range ahead of this week's Dubai Desert Classic at Emrirates Golf Club.

As we join the video, Hovland is seen discussing his wrist and arms movement in the swing with Yeaton.
He then proceeds to thrash away at a couple of fairway wood and driver shots.

Hovland fractured his right toe on a bed frame in his hotel room prior to The Sentry in Hawaii earlier this month.
But he still managed to take part in the tournament and he finished T36.
Hovland won the Dubai Desert Classic in 2022.
A host of star names are competing in this week's Dubai Desert Classic including Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton and Tommy Fleetwood.

Yeaton has been ranked as the No.1 instructor in Indiana by Golf Digest.
He has also been recognised as one of the best young teachers in America by the same publication.
Yeaton is considered one of the top 50 instructors in the United States.
