'Everything about this hole I despise...' Tyrrell Hatton rants about 18th in Dubai
England's Tyrrell Hatton is bang in contention for the DP World Tour Championship, but he very much dislikes the par-5 18th on the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
Tyrrell Hatton might be in contention to cap off his season in style with victory at the DP World Tour Championship, but the fiery Englishman despises the par-5 18th on the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai.
Like really, really despises it.
After splitting the 18th fairway courtesy of a brilliant tee shot, Hatton was left with 282 yards to the pin.
With a creek running all the way down the left side and short of the hole, Hatton decided the prudent play was to lay up rather than force things.
He then provided deeper insight into what he made of the hole alongside his caddie Hugo Dobson.
"I despise everything about this hole," said Hatton.
"Having to hit 9-iron after a good tee shot shows how bad it is... I mean it's just so ridiculous, everything about this I despise."
Hatton's caddie then tried to get him in the zone before pulling the trigger: "Yup, just hit a good 9-iron here T at the right centre."
"Truly awful golf hole," concluded Hatton.

Hatton went on to record a par on the 18th to card a 3-under 69.
It leaves him in a tie for second alongside Rory McIlroy on 8-under par for the tournament.
They both trail Frenchman Antoine Rozner by one shot heading into the weekend.
Rozner, a three-time winner on the DP World Tour, fired a briliant 65 to vault to the top of the board on 9-under par.
LIV Golf's Joaquin Niemann is two shots off the pace on 7-under par.
Four players then trail by a further shot comprising Shane Lowry, Keita Nakajima, Rasmus Hojgaard and Jesper Svensson.
LIV Golf star Hatton was let back on the DP World Tour recently after having appealed his fines for joining the Saudi-bankrolled circuit in 2024.
He has wasted little time in racking up some valuable European Ryder Cup points with a record-breaking third victory at the Dunhill Links last month at the Home of Golf, before adding a solo second at last week's Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
Hatton is seeking a first career win at the DP World Tour Championship this week.
As it stands, McIlroy will run away with the Race to Dubai title for a third consecutive time and sixth overall.
McIlroy will pick up a bonus of $2m.
