Paul Waring's second round at the DP World Tour Championship completely fell apart from the moment 'one of his pals' shouted out in the middle of his golf swing on the 10th.

Waring, 39, won his second career DP World Tour title and first in more than six years at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship last week.

He was also in contention to win again this week after hitting the top of the leaderboard in the second round at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai.

Tied at the top alongside Rory McIlroy at the time on 8-under par, Waring hit a beautiful tee shot down the middle of the par-4 10th.

Waring was left with a flick of a wedge from just 74 yards.

But as Waring began his backswing, a fan - reportedly "one of his pals" according to Sky Sports Golf on-course commentator Wayne 'Radar' Riley - shouted out and put him off.

Waring couldn't stop his backswing and he pulled his wedge shot into the left greenside bunker.

"Ooh that was a bit early... one of his pals, won't be his pal for too long... that was nasty right on the downswing," said Riley.

Watch what happened here:

The incident seemingly affected Waring for the rest of the round.

He failed to get up and down for par at 10 and it resulted in his first bogey of the round.

Waring birdied the par-5 14th but then made three bogeys in a row from the 15th en route to a round of 71.

It left him at 5-under par for the tournament and four shots off the pace currently set by France's Antoine Rozner on 9-under par.

McIlroy and Tyrrell Hatton are in a tie for second on 8-under par.

LIV Golf's Joaquin Niemann is two shots off the pace on 7-under par.

Four players then trail by a further shot comprising Shane Lowry, Keita Nakajima, Rasmus Hojgaard and Jesper Svensson.
