Brooks Koepka cracks obvious joke ahead of DP World Tour return
Brooks Koepka joked the weather was 'beautiful as always' ahead of making his return to the DP World Tour in Scotland.
Brooks Koepka is playing his favourite course in the world this week when he makes his return to the DP World Tour.
Koepka will have the opportunity to play St Andrews in competition for the first time since the landmark 150th Open Championship.
The American said before he entered into this week's Alfred Dunhill Links Championship that he could play at the home of golf every day for the rest of his life and never get tired of it.
Report:
St Andrews is also Tiger Woods' favourite course in the world.
Even though Koepka is thrilled to be teeing it up this week, he will have to brave the elements.
The forecast looks absolutely horrendous, with heavy rain and wind expected on Saturday and Sunday.
Koepka took a cheeky dig at what is to come when he posted this on his Instagram stories:
The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship has a total prize purse of $5,000,000.
Koepka is joined by as many as 13 other LIV Golf players in the field this week.
They are:
- Jon Rahm
- Tyrrell Hatton
- Talor Gooch
- Patrick Reed
- Pat Perez
- Hudson Swafford
- David Puig
- Eugenio Chacarra
- Louis Oosthuizen
- Branden Grace
- Dean Burmester
- Peter Uihlein
- Matt Jones
Why are so many LIV Golf players allowed to play this week?
Brooks Koepka has been invited by the tournament sponsor to play.
Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton have been fined by the DP World Tour for competing in LIV Golf events without tournament releases.
They have appealed their fines and are therefore able to continue playing until that appeal is heard.
Patrick Reed has settled his fines and grabbed his spot in the field this week after he finished in the top-10 at the Open de Espana.
David Puig and Eugenio Chacarra are also non-members of the DP World Tour but are able to play under category 0c (the leading 10 players available from within the top 30 of the PGA Tour of Australisia, Sunshing Tour and Asian Tour's final order of merit from the 2023/2024 season).
Louis Oosthuizen, Dean Burmester, Caleb Surratt, Talor Gooch, Peter Uihlien, Branden Grace, Matt Jones and Hudson Swafford all received tournament invites by the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship committee.
Their inclusion is no surprise given the South African billionaire who runs the event, Johann Rupert, is a staunch advocate for reunification in men's professional golf.
