PGA Tour boss Jay Monahan and his LIV Golf counterpart Yasir Al-Rumayyan are set to take part in this week's Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, according to a report.

Per Telegraph Sport, it is understood Monahan will play alongside recent BMW PGA Championship winner Billy Horschel

It is not known who Al-Rumayyan will be paired with but it's likely he will partner one of the 14 LIV Golf players who are in the field this week.

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is played at Kingsbarns, Carnoustie and St Andrews.

Professionals play 72 holes of strokeplay but it also features a team event with celebrities and amateurs.

Al-Rumayyan's inclusion will be the second time in as many years he has played in the DP World Tour event.

Last year he was spotted alongside OWGR chairman Peter Dawson.

LIV were ultimately rejected in their bid for OWGR recognition.

Dawson later claimed they were 'not at war' with the Saudi-backed breakaway.

Last year, Al-Rumayyan played under the pseudonym of 'Andrew Waterman'.

It led to an outpouring of jokes on social media and there will no doubt be more of the same this week.

Telegraph Sport have claimed Al-Rumayyan was not listed under his real name to hide his involvement, but merely because he was unable to commit to playing until the last minute.

Why he wasn't listed as 'TBC' is still not known, but the report have touted the idea that it was simply down to the dark humour of the South African billionaire businessman, Johann Rupert, who runs the event.

Rupert is seen as a key figure in the world of golf and has long called for reunification at the elite men's level.

The DP World Tour, Saudi PIF and PGA Tour entered into a framework agreement last June.

A deadline of 31 December 2023 passed with reports the parties were still miles apart.

Several meetings have been held to thrash out the terms of the agreement over the last few months, most notably with a summit in New York.

Four-time major champion Rory McIlroy claimed the talks were positive and a resolution is wanted by the higher-ups.

But players looking out for their own interests and scrutiny from the U.S. Department of Justice are two huge stumbling blocks for any deal to be agreed, he said.

In the event no deal transpires, McIlroy claimed there could be a situation whereby the DP World Tour could be brought back to the 80s or 90s where there was two really strong tours.

"Selfishly as a European, it would be wonderful to get that investment and to use that money in the right way for this tour," McIlroy told reporters at Wentworth.

"But it would still keep the game divided. However, it would be plan B to the best solution."

How are they able to play?

Some players, such as Tyrrell Hatton and Jon Rahm have not resigned their memberships.

They have been fined for playing LIV events, but both have appealed and are therefore able to continue making starts on the DP World Tour pending their appeals.

Other players have been offered invites by the tournament sponsor.

Patrick Reed is an honorary member of the DP World Tour and is able to participate because he has settled his fines.
