Steve Stricker has been named 2020 United States Ryder Cup captain for their biennial clash against Padraig Harrington's European team at Whistling Straits.
Stricker, 51, becomes the first American to become Ryder Cup captain without having won a major championship.
The 12-time PGA Tour winner will skipper the Americans in his home state of Wisconsin from September 25-27 in 2020.
The United States has lost four of the past five Ryder Cup matches, with their last victory on home turf at Hazeltine in 2016.
Europe - who will be led by Harrington - won the 2018 Ryder Cup at Le Golf National by a commanding scoreline of 17.5-10.5.
As a Ryder Cup player, Stricker went 3-7-1. Harrington's record as a player reads 9-13-3.
