Luke Donald to use SUPER SUB at Ryder Cup?! His picks make sense now!
Luke Donald to take advantage of substitute player at the Ryder Cup?!
Telegraph Sport's James Corrigan has joked European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald can substitute Nicolai Hojgaard for his twin brother Rasmus with nobody the wiser at the Ryder Cup later this month.
Donald chose Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, Shane Lowry, Sepp Straka, Ludvig Aberg and Nicolai Hojgaard as his six captain's picks for the European Ryder Cup team on Monday afternoon.
They join Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Viktor Hovland, Tyrrell Hatton, Matt Fitzpatrick and Bob MacIntyre in the team.
Donald controversially decided to leave Adrian Meronk out of the team, and that has not sat well with a number of golf fans.
A number of other players missed out including Yannik Paul, Victor Perez, Alexander Bjork and Nicolai's twin brother Rasmus Hojgaard.
But according to Telegraph Sport's Corrigan, the decision to select Hojgaard over Meronk is all part of the wider plan for Donald.
Effectively, it allows him to take 13 players to Marco Simone Golf Club in Rome.
Should Nicolai not be performing as expected, then twin Rasmus can step in.
Yes, it's a joke. Don't worry Zach Johnson, if you are reading this tweet...
It's clear - to me anyway - that @LukeDonald will substitute Rasmus for Nicolai during the Ryder Cup if the latter is playing crap - with nobody the wiser. This is a 13 man Ryder Cup team. 14 if you include the home fans. UNBEATABLE

Corrigan tweeted:
A number of golf fans replied:
"HAHA that is genius!"
"Like Sir Alex at Manchester United back in the day with Rafael and Fabio!"
"That's a good call."
"It all makes sense now!"
