WATCH: Scottie Scheffler takes a club to the FACE at the Travelers!
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler proved the course can be dangerous on Friday.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler took a brutal club to the face during Friday's round at TPC River Highlands.
This week the PGA Tour is in Connecticut for the annual Travelers Championship. With designated event status this year, the tournament carries a lucrative $20m purse and has a field filled with all the top players.
That includes the newly-turned 27-year-old Scheffler, who was coming off of a solid, third-place finish at last week's US Open.
On Thursday, the Texas product had a great day on the par-70 course, shooting a 7-under 63. He was three-strokes back of leader Denny McCarthy who had nearly shot a 59 during the opening round but had to settle for 60.
Friday, however, wasn't so easy for the 2022 Masters winner. Scheffler struggled his way through the course, ultimately carding an even-par 70.
With a total score of 7-under par, he is now eight-strokes back of the leaders, McCarthy and Keegan Bradley.
To make matters worse, Scheffler took a bit of a beating out on the course during the second round. In fact, he took a club directly to the face.
And who was responsible for this?
Well, Scheffler himself.

It appears as though Scheffler did not like his swing, and let go of his club towards the end of it.
Unfortunately for his sake, it comes back around and smacks him right in the noggin.
