Multiple PGA Tour winner Tony Finau is being sued for half of his earnings.

Per a report by the Desert News, Finau has been named in two lawsuits by former business associates.

They are Molonai Hola and David Hunter. The report states they are not working together and have filed separate claims.

To date, Finau has won $37,379,004 in official PGA Tour prize money. Finau's brother Gipper and his father have also been named in Hola's lawsuit.

The golfer's agent told the publication there was 'no upside' to commenting on the lawsuits and refused to go into detail with a response.

But he did tell the publication:

"We never comment on matters of a legal nature … and are confident that the legal process will carry out in due course."

The report states:

"Both Hola and Hunter, who are not working together, say they want repayment for loans and other work and services they say they provided to the family from 2006 to 2009, totalling about $1.1m."
"They also seek, separately, up to 20 per cent each of Tony Finau's career earnings, which could be in the tens of millions. "

PGA Tour star Tony Finau sued for millions:

Until this week it would not be unreasonable to suggest Finau had privately harboured hopes he would be picked for the 2023 Ryder Cup

The 33-year-old was part of Team USA two years ago but skipper Zach Johnson decided to make some controversial captain's picks.

Now Finau has a legal headache to think about.

At the heart of both lawsuits is the now dissolved Finau Corp and ICON Sports Consultants.

The lawsuits claim they helped Tony and his brother Gipper get started in golf and now they want what they say is owed to them.

The report states Finau is being sued by Hunter because:

"He and others had invested in the golfers as they [Finau and his brother] sought to turn professional and a company was created by the Finau family with the promise of a stake in their future earnings. The Finau Company ultimately dissolved in 2009 before the brothers hit it big."

The civil lawsuit claims Tony and his brother dissolved the company to avoid paying back money they owed.

This is not the first time Hunter has brought this claim. It was dismissed in 2021, but now the Utah Court of Appeals is considering reviving the lawsuit.

Oral arguments were heard this week, the report states.

Hunter told the publication:

"This thing is far from over. It is a wild and crazy story, but it deserves to be told."

Hola's previous claims of breach of contract and tortious interference were dismissed. The "unjust enrichment" aspect of his claim remains.

We'll have to keep our eyes peeled to see how this story develops.
