PGA Tour pro reveals his Rory McIlroy 'spat': "I'd like to start with a beef!"
This PGA Tour pro has revealed what 'upset' him at the Canadian Open.
When you play alongside Rory McIlroy on the PGA Tour there will inevitably be huge crowds.
Mark Hubbard enjoyed the buzz of playing alongside the four-time major champion when he found himself in contention alongside the 34-year-old Northern Irishman at the Canadian Open.
He was grouped with McIlroy during the third round at Oakdale Golf & Country Club in Toronto.
Both players positioned themselves perfectly with the final round remaining, the duo reaching 12-under after 54 holes.
Though Hubbard, 34, did have one beef. And it involved the ESPN app.
Let Hubbard, who is yet to win on the PGA Tour, explain his 'beef' after playing his third round:
As for McIlroy, he was thrust into the spotlight once again after it was confirmed the PGA Tour had agreed a deal with LIV Golf's Saudi backers.
McIlroy, understandably, had a lot to say about that. First, he noted he felt as though he was a sacrificial lamb.
But after confirming he 'still hates LIV', the Ulsterman said he believed it would ultimately be good for the game.
Would you rather have a sovereign wealth fund as a friend or foe, he pondered.
McIlroy was bidding to win the Canadian Open for the third year in a row. The last time he tasted victory here 12 months ago, he viewed it as a victory for the PGA Tour over their bitter LIV rival.
Now? "This one will be for me," McIlroy said at the prospect of winning his 24th PGA Tour title.
