PGA Tour FedEx Cup prize purse: How things currently stand after The Players
This is what the FedEx Cup standings currently look like as we head into the major season.
The PGA Tour increased the bonus pool for the FedEx Cup for the 2021-2022 season to $75million.
That means that the winner will receive a whopping $18million, up by $3million after Patrick Cantlay secured golf's richest prize at East Lake last season.
This year the winner will get $17million up front, with the remaining money deferred into their retirement account.
It seems hard to believe that we are almost halfway through the season. And at the moment Scottie Scheffler stands alone atop the standings.
Scheffler dropped the tag of becoming the best player on tour yet to win and has won twice so far this season. He's also managed five other top-10s.
He's trailed by Players Championship winner Cameron Smith, who also became the champion of champions in Hawaii with a record-low winning score on the PGA Tour.
It's even more impressive that Smith has played in five fewer events than Scheffler.
Hideki Matsuyama sits in third with two wins and four top-10s. Tom Hoge, who became a PGA Tour winner for the first time at Pebble Beach, and Talor Gooch who won the RSM Classic.
Matsuyama won in front of his own adoring fans in Japan at the ZOZO Championship. He also won the Sony Open.
