LIV Golf's Lee Westwood LAUGHS at Brandel Chamblee's "antiquated" CUT comments!
LIV Golf's Lee Westwood laughs in the face of Golf Channel's Brandel Chamblee over his latest comments about no cuts on the PGA Tour.
LIV Golf player Lee Westwood has laughed at Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee on Twitter following his comments that cut marks on the PGA Tour are seemingly now "antiquated".
Westwood was one of a number of LIV Golf pros to blast the PGA Tour over their bombshell news on Wednesday after it emerged they will be limiting field sizes and not using cuts at a number of their elevated events next season.
It is believed 10 designated events will feature limited fields and no cuts in 2024.
After hearing the PGA Tour's latest proposals, Westwood, who plays on LIV Golf where there are already no cuts, tweeted:
I thought no cut no legacy

The playbook is playing out great!
- 2022: “PGAT can’t compete dollar for dollar with #LIVGolf”2023: PGAT raises purses in elevated events to $20m.
- 2022: emphasize how great big fields & how important a 36 hole cut is 2023: reduce the field of elevated events w no cut. pic.twitter.com/1kRFN6LoiT— Pro Golf Critic (@NotDrJ) March 1, 2023
So.. Do away with the WGC’s. Load the OWGR in your favour. Create 10 limited field events for just PGA tour members(like WGC’s). Add to that 4 majors,Players,FedEx cup. That’s a full schedule for a top player. That’s growing the game. What Strategic Alliance?

Here's a look at the main changes to the PGA Tour's Designated Events in 2024:
- Fields reduced to 70-80 players with no cut
- Field size changes will not apply to the majors, The Players Championship and the FedEx Cup Playoffs
- Top 50 from previous season's BMW Championship will qualify
- 5 spots earned via performance in non-designated events
- PGA Tour members in the world's top 30
- Top 10 players from current FedEx Cup standings not otherwise eligible
- 4 sponsor exemptions for PGA Tour members
The latest proposals by the PGA Tour have been approved by Rory McIlroy, who has insisted they have not copied LIV Golf in the slightest.
McIlroy said:
But back to Westwood and his latest tweet aimed directly at Chamblee, who it's fair to say has been a strong critic of all things LIV Golf ever since the Saudi-bankrolled circuit was introduced in the summer of 2022.
Westwood replied to one golf fan's tweet who focused on Chamblee's sudden disinterest in cuts on the PGA Tour.

After witnessing Chamblee's latest comments about cut marks on the PGA Tour, Westwood tweeted three crying laughter faces followed by a facepalm emoji with a tag for Chamblee.
Fellow Englishman and LIV Golf Majesticks teammate Ian Poulter chimed in, too.
I think he is called a “hypocrite” I knew they’d soon back pedal and try to steer and forget what they once said. No surprises. Next up @eamonlynch although he will articulate it and turn it to sound very clever as normal. @chambleebrandel https://t.co/GiW858xjod

Earlier today, Chamblee responded to one golf fan's criticism that he had been against the no-cut format over on LIV Golf.
Chamblee made it clear to the fan that his main disapproval of LIV Golf has always been the "source of money."
My criticism of LIV never hung on the format, although 48 players with a shotgun start over 54 holes with music blaring and commentary that sounds like Willy Loman trying to sell linoleum is laughable. My criticism hung on the source of the money and the reason for the “tour.” https://t.co/EsTrb12FsO

A golf fan tweeted:
Chamblee replied:
What the PGA Tour announced today was an answer to a very real threat… but unlike the threat, the PGA Tour thought about how to best serve the audience and the players. Superstars, lesser stars, lower ranked players and the audience will all hugely benefit from this format. https://t.co/6Gi7N1ZSBR

Chamblee then further tweeted about the latest PGA Tour news:
Where do you stand on the new PGA Tour changes ahead of limiting field sizes with no cuts in some of the elevated events in 2024? Was it really needed to make the PGA Tour a better product?
