Five of the biggest names who MISSED OUT on PGA Tour's FedEx Cup playoffs
Justin Thomas was the biggest PGA Tour star to miss out on the FedEx Cup playoffs, failing to advance to the postseason for the first time in his career.
Justin Thomas was undoubtedly the biggest player not to advance to the FedEx Cup playoffs on the PGA Tour.
In years past Thomas would have comfortably advanced to the postseason as 125 players have traditionally advanced to the first leg, starting at the FedEx St. Jude Championship next week in Memphis.
But LIV Golf arrived on the scene in 2022, forcing some big changes to the structure of the North American circuit.
One of those changes has seen a revamp to the playoff structure. From now on, the top 70 players will advance to the playoffs.

Lucas Glover, who claimed victory at the Wyndham Championship, is one of the players who will be teeing it up at TPC Southwind next week, but he is one of many who aren't happy about the change.
Like Thomas, there are a number of high-profile players who will now have a bit of downtime after missing out.
GolfMagic has decided to take a look at five of the biggest names to miss out...
Scott narrowly missed out, finishing 72nd in the rankings. Scott finished T-39 at the Masters, T-29 at the PGA Championship, missed the cut at the U.S. Open and T-33 at the Open. He's played 17 events, making 15 cuts and posted four top-10s. It doesn't sound dreadful, right? Just not quite good enough.
Like Scott, Lowry's season on paper doesn't make for terrible reading. He was more than respectable in the majors, finishing T-16 at Augusta National, T-12 at the PGA Championship, T-20 at the U.S Open before missing the cut at Royal Liverpool. He's missed three cuts but crucially has only posted one top-10 finish all season.
Horschel is a confidence player and there is absolutely no doubt it wouldn't have been lower after he shot an 84 at Muirfield Village as he attempted to defend the Memorial. Tears flowed before that missed cut and it is to Horschel's credit that he came close to forcing his way into the postseason picture. Horschel, once as ranked as high as 11th in the world rankings, has struggled immeasurably this season. He made one cut in the majors, which came at Augusta National en route to a solo 52nd finish. Of the 22 events he has played this year, he has missed nine cuts, posting five top-25 finishes and three top-10s.
Dahmen will readily admit he's not the best player and never will be. But he was a pillar of consistency in 2022 and would've thought he would have had a good opportunity of being in Memphis.
As we've mentioned, the former World No.1 and former FedEx Cup champion was the biggest name to miss out. He's missed 11 cuts this year from 27 events, posting four top-10 finishes. Nothing has really been that bad for Thomas, but the putting does stand out. The American ranks 147th in the strokes gained: putting department which is absolutely no bueno on tour.
