Don't look past Jon Rahm at the Waste Management Phoenix Open
Golf Betting Tips: Jon Rahm is the man to beat at the Phoenix Open, believes GM Editor Andy Roberts.
Jon Rahm is without question the man everyone has to beat at this week's Waste Management Phoenix Open at famed TPC Scottsdale on the PGA Tour.
Rahm might not have won this tournament before but as a local Arizona State University product, this one certainly means a lot.
Majors will always come first for Rahm, but winning this event will be right up there for him.
The Spaniard's results here reflect that, too, with nothing worse than a tied 16th in seven attempts, one of which was an amateur.
Rahm's form figures are quite frankly ridiculous right now, too.
He's gone 2-1-4-1-8-1-1-7 in his last eight starts around the world.

Rahm might be fairly short at a best-priced 8/1, which is the same odds as World No.1 Rory McIlroy, who makes his first PGA Tour start of 2023 and just his second ever start in the Phoenix Open, but I cannot see anyone getting past him this week.
He will have to be on his A-game given just about every big-name PGA Tour player is here with it being one of the 'Elevated Events' of the season.
Rahm has already won in the desert at The American Express last month, and I fancy him to go in again.
GOLF BETTING STAT:
My second pick for victory here is going to be Patrick Cantlay at a widely available 20/1.
Cantlay lost out to Scottie Scheffler here in a playoff 12 months ago so he will somewhat have a sense of redemption on his mind.
The American hasn't yet quite lit the flame in 2023 but I think that could all change this week on a course he clearly takes to well.
I fancy Cantlay to have a big season, perhaps even picking up a first major on the way, so an early-year victory would be some way to start.

Over on the DP World Tour at the Singapore Classic, and it's a fairly weak field it must be said - a reflection of the times on the former European Tour circuit.
Bob MacIntyre is the tournament favourite at 16/1 but I like the look of the man next in the betting, Jordan Smith, at 18/1.
Smith won five starts ago when running away with the Portugal Masters, and I can see him going very close this week.
He also picked up a top-20 finish in Dubai two weeks ago, which represents fairly solid early-season form given the strength in depth of that field.
It's a tentative selection at best, but Smith looks the best value for the favourites at least.
At an each-way play, I like the look of Connor Syme, who spoke up his chances of a big year when appearing on the GolfMagic Podcast several weeks ago. WATCH HERE.
He was bang in contention in Abu Dhabi when getting to within a shot of the lead at one stage in the final round, only to fall away on the back nine.
Syme is a definite DP World Tour winner in waiting, and who knows, it could fall in Singapore.
At odds of 66/1 in some places, Syme would please a lot of punters if he were to come up trumps this week.
