WATCH: Scott Hend PURPOSELY hits into grandstand en route to win...
CLEVER or MADNESS? What do you make of this creative shot from the Malaysian Open champion...
Scott Hend played one of the most outrageous shots of the European Tour season so far when firing a low bullet from the trees purposely into the grandstand behind 18 in order to find the green.
Hend went on to two-putt for a par on the 18th hole in round three, and then went on to defeat Nacho Elvira in a playoff the next day to record his third European Tour title.
While his creative approach into 18 came off, it could have resulted in a catastrophe in the crowd given the speed his ball was coming into the grandstand. Watch the shot below...
Judging by his social media comments afterwards, it's fair to say he was considering the shot all week...
Played that way.... 121m to base of grandstand..... play a 140m shot low into the boards and see if it will bounce back.... seemed to work out ok. My caddie bounced many balls off the stand testing the bounce during practice.

Hend also got lucky in the playoff against Elvira when his ball richocheted off a tree and back into the fairway as he went on to make a birdie and win the tournament.
