Reporter drops F-BOMB during Rory McIlroy interview
A reporter didn't know McIlroy could hear him when he dropped this hilarious F-BOMB.
Following the coronavirus outbreak, life on the PGA Tour has been a little different and that includes the interview process. Players admitted they found it a little strange to adjust to and it seems one reporter hasn't quite got the hang of virtual interviews.
Rory McIlroy was speaking to reporters ahead of this week's Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village, when he was interrupted by someone from the media on the otherside of the interview, who didn't know that McIlroy could hear him. Watch the hilarious F-BOMB video below:
Of course, McIlroy found the moment hilarious and I'm sure he enjoyed the laugh, but the World No.1 will be focused on his golf this week in his quest of finding his first win of the year.
The Northern Irishman was one of the most in-form players alongside Jon Rahm before the PGA Tour came to a halt after the first round of the Players Championship, but he's looked a little out of sorts since returning.
McIlroy has played three events since the PGA Tour resumed, with his best finish a T11 at the Travelers Championship, before he took a few weeks off to work on the mental side of his game.
Four players have the chance of knocking McIlroy off his perch as World No.1 this week and the 31-year-old was asked how important it is for him to keep hold of that prestigious spot.
"I think since I started back, obviously the rankings have been frozen, and look, it's a different year," said McIlroy.
"I sort of -- this might sound a little bad, but looking back on the first three events that I played, two of the courses I hadn't played before or hadn't played in a very long time. I sort of treated them as sort of dipping my toes back in the water again and seeing how things were and how things felt in terms of no crowds and how different it was, so I think those three weeks definitely give me a better understanding of how it's going to be going forward.
"And yeah, so the ranking I'm not even think about. I'm just trying to play well. I played a little better at the Travelers. I had a chance on Sunday to finish higher than I did. I had a bit of a bad finish. But I feel like my game is definitely better now after that week that I had with Michael than it was then.
"Yeah, I'm excited to get going. Obviously if I play well, then the ranking takes care of itself, and all I'm thinking about doing this week is playing well and putting up some good numbers."
