Lexi Thompson in tears after flubbing chip to miss Evian cut
Lexi brought to tears after making hash of final hole en route to missing cut at Evian Championship.
Lexi Thompson was brought to tears on Friday afternoon at the Evian Championship after she flubbed a chip on the 18th hole that cost her from making the weekend.
Thompson found the rough at the back of the green on the par-4 18th and required an up-and-down for par to make the cut on 3-over, but she unfortunately flubbed her chip and it barely went anywhere.
With tears flowing down her cheeks, Thompson duly got down from there for bogey but a round of 75 saw her miss the cut by one stroke on 4-over...
Oh no — Lexi needed to get this up and down at 18 to make the cut. Obviously a tricky chip, but what a brutal way to end the year's last major. pic.twitter.com/dImJH8DcKO

"I think there's a build up of a whole lot of things that we are not privy to," Golf Channel analyst Judy Rankin said as Thompson walked off the hole. "It's enough to know that she has said there are lots of things going on, and she is so obviously a talented player and fighting the game this year."

Should Thompson fail to win a tournament this season it would mark the first year she has failed to do so since 2013.
The world number five currently has six top-10 finishes to her name this year.
Thomspon, 23, took a mini break from the game of golf earlier this season after an overwhelming year both on and off the course.
She experienced two high-profile incidents inside the ropes last year, losing the ANA Inspiration in a playoff following a four-stroke penalty for incorrectly marking her ball, and missing a two-foot putt at the season-finale CME Group Tour Championship for a potential victory.
Thompson also made a mess of a local ruling just last month - click here to read.
Outside the ropes, Thompson has attended to her mother's fight against cancer.
“The last year and a half, I have honestly been struggling a lot, emotionally, and it's hard because I can't really show it," said Thompson upon returning to golf after a mini break over the summer.
"It was just so much to deal with, and I had to show that I was still okay and still play golf. And I don't even know how I played that well, honestly. And I think it just kind of all hit me coming into this year."
