Golf thief's letter of apology

A GOLFER from Denver, Colorado whose clubs were stolen while he was sipping a cold one in the clubhouse has received a hand-written letter of apology from the thief.

Greg Knight had just finished his round at Willis Case Golf Club, so he and his playing partner decided to have a quick drink in the clubhouse before driving home.

He thought about putting his clubs in his car first, but instead left them in the bag rack by the front door of the clubhouse. When he came back they had gone.

And to make matters worse, the bag also had Greg's car keys and chequebook inside it.

Greg filed a police report and got a lift home, before recieving a surprise call a few hours later.

A member of staff from the golf club 'phoned to say they had found Greg's golf glove, towel and car keys on the 10th tee, along with a hand-written letter of apology.

The letter began with: "It is with deep regret and apology that I admit to my involvement in the wrongful and illegal theft of your personal property."

It went on: "Before the act was even committed, I myself, developed an undeniable regret and remorse immediately after committing the act.

"I have already taken steps to begin to rectify the actions and eliminate any further troubles for you as a result of this stupid decision.

"I immediately took it upon myself after leaving the scene to destroy and dispose of your personal checks."

The letter is signed off with: "Sincerely, Dumb*ss seeking remorse."

It also states that the thief, who claims he did not act alone, will do all he can to return the clubs in the next few weeks.

Greg said he was just pleased to have his car keys back.

"Thanks for manning up is all I can say. Thanks for manning up and at least returning that property," he said.
