Hideki Matsuyama leads The Masters after an OUTSTANDING third round
Hideki Matsuyama began the day three shots behind Justin Rose but shot a scintillating 65 to lead the way on 11-under-par.
Hideki Matsuyama produced a stunning score of 7-under-par to lead The Masters heading into the final round at Augusta National.
Matsuyama started the third round three shots behind Justin Rose on 4-under-par, but then his charge began with a birdie on the par-4 7th hole.
The 29-year-old entered Amen Corner and made birdies at the tough 11th and 12th holes, followed by an incredible eagle on the 15th hole as he stormed up the leaderboard on Saturday.
Matsuyama added two more birdies on the 16th and 17th holes to finish on 11-under-par and complete his third round without making a bogey.
Rose led the way at the beginning of the day on 7-under-par, but the Englishman couldn't match Matsuyama's score and failed to build on his halfway lead.
The World No.41 shot level-par in his third round and ended four shots off the lead, but the Englishman's short game was superb and he battled on to remain in contention.
Xander Schauffele moved into contention on Saturday after carding a round of 4-under-par, which was highlighted by a superb long-putt eagle on the par-5 15th hole.
Schauffele made four birdies in a round that also included two bogeys, but the World No. 6 finished on 7-under-par for the tournament and remained in touch with Matsuyama.
Marc Leishman followed up his second-round score of 67 with a 2-under-par 70 to also finish on 7-under-par.
Will Zalatoris began the day one shot behind Rose and he followed up his impressive first two rounds with a third-round score of 71 to join Rose, Leishman and Schauffele in a tie for second.
