The 19th Solheim Cup in 2024 will be held at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia following a change in the event's schedule.

After 2024, the Solheim Cup will be held biennially in even years. It will only be the second-ever time that the ladies' event runs opposite to the men's Ryder Cup.

"Robert Trent Jones Golf Club and the greater Northern Virginia area are already serving as gracious hosts for the Solheim Cup, providing the setting for what will undoubtedly be a can’t-miss event for sports fans around the world," said Lindsay Allen, Executive Director of the 2024 Solheim Cup.

A new points structure for America has been created for the event in two years' time. The US team members will earn points from the 2023 Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions and they will earn points by finishing in the top 40 at LPGA Tour events.

These points will be doubled at the five major championships and in the year of the Solheim Cup, all points values will increase by 50%.

Once the qualification period is over, the top seven US players will be automatically chosen. The two highest-ranked players in the Rolex Rankings who've not already qualified will make the team. This leaves three spots for three captain's picks.

"After taking an in-depth look at the history of the US Solheim Cup qualifying process, we feel this new points structure will provide the most comprehensive picture of the American talent working toward representing their country," said Tommy Tangtiphaiboontana, Senior Vice President of Tour Operations.

The 2023 US team will still use the previous point structure. Points are earned for top 20 finishes and points for majors are doubled. The qualification period for next year's Solheim Cup will finish at the 2023 CP Women's Open.

The 2023 event will be held at Finca Cortesin in Spain on September 22-24. Stacy Lewis' American side will be looking to wrestle back the trophy they lost at Inverness Club in 2021.
