What’s that weird thing attached to Brooks Koepka’s Nike shoes?
Brooks Koepka explains Nike's OFF-WHITES to golf journalist: "It's fashion, bro!"
Brooks Koepka's new Nike Golf Off-White Air Max 90 cleats left many golf fans and the media scratching the surface during the Tour Championship at the weekend.
Koepka, 29, took a narrow one-stroke lead into the final round of the season finale with $15 million on the line for winning the FedEx Cup, but he would eventually finish in a tie for third and five strokes behind Rory McIlroy.
But it was Koepka's shoes that left the biggest imprint across social media over the weekend, with one golf commentator asking "why has Brooks Koepka still got the security tag on his shoes?"
After talking about his performance at East Lake, the big-hitting American was quizzed about his new Nike Golf shoes, and he wasted little time in getting to the point.
"It’s fashion, bro," said Koepka, who then called the reporter a "golf nerd."
"I don’t know how to explain it. It’s Off-White. It’s fashion. I guarantee the whole golf world has no clue what Off-White is, but it’s fresh. If you’re a sneaker head, you’ll get it — or into fashion. Sneaker heads know, yeah."

Virgil Abloh’s fashion brand Off-White and Nike's 'The Ten' collaboration was the biggest sneaker event of 2017, and the relationship has been going from strength to strength.
The first releases were split into two packs of five. The REVEALING pack contained the OFF-WHITE Nike Air Jordan 1, Air Max 90, Air Presto, Air VaporMax, and Blazer Mid, with the “GHOSTING” pack including an OFF-WHITE Nike Air Max 97, React Hyperdunk, Air Force 1, Zoom Vaporfly, and Converse Chuck Taylor All Star.
“It’s larger than design culture,” said Abloh. “These 10 shoes have broken barriers in performance and style. To me, they are on the same level as the sculpture of David or the Mona [Lisa]. You can debate it all you want, but they mean something.”
