Looks
Possesses the look of a better player iron, even though Srixon says this one is ideally suited for players of all abilities. Double Laser Milling looks great on the face, but there was slight glare noted out in the sun. Tester's comment: "Sleek and sexy."
Feel
Soft and buttery on centre hits, as expected from the forged body, but it will let you know when striking a bad one. Golf Pride grip and True Temper shaft worked well for the majority. Tester's comment: "Nice feel to the back of the head with tungsten weighting in the toe."
Performance
Ideal mid-high ball flight and tight dispersion for the majority of testers but not quite as long as we were expecting. Three testers commented on the iron's "exceptional playability". Despite the moderate topline, the tungsten weighting really helps to get the ball up and out there, but it is not the easiest iron to strike cleanly. Tester's comment: "Good ball strikers will love it, beginners will likely struggle".
Verdict
Great to see Srixon back with a bang in the iron world with the new Z 545, 745 and 945. Although we feel this one sides more in the better-player category given its beautifully sleek, forged appearance and exceptional ability to work the ball both ways, there is enough forgiveness and soft feel to get excited about for game improvers. Not the longest iron in our test but well worth a look given its £599 price tag.
