Golf shoes have come a long way in recent years, with the lines between on and off-course styling getting blurrier each day. Taking advantage of this trend, Travis Mathew has infused its South California style into a versatile, spikeless golf shoe that is ideal for summer golf.

The shoe in question is the Daily Pro Hybrid. We tend not to read too much into names when it comes to golf shoes, but we can't help but think that the three words that make up the name of these shoes perfectly summarise what they are about.

So, starting with 'daily", this shoe is the kind of shoe that could be worn, you guessed it, daily. Thanks to its versatile design, you could wear these shoes to pop to the supermarket and then, once you've finished your jobs, head straight to the course to play 18.

As is the neutrality of the design, you wouldn't look out of place wearing these shoes for almost any task.

On to Pro. Now, this is perhaps the most tenuous link. If we're being honest, we can't see these shoes becoming a mainstay on the PGA Tour due to their lack of spikes and waterproof treatment. However, despite that, they do offer excellent stability and comfort, which will have been developed with plenty of Tour feedback.

Last but not least is hybrid. A good pair of hybrid shoes can be worn anywhere, whether you're picking up your kids from school or holing the deciding birdie putt in your monthly medal. These shoes certainly deliver on that brief. Much like the best hybrid golf clubs, these shoes are designed to be used in almost any environment, and that's exactly what they deliver.

To fully test the Daily Pro Hybrids, we played 18 holes at Mannings Heath Golf and Wine Estate.

Let's get into it.

Travis Mathew Daily Pro Hybrid Looks

As we mentioned earlier, these shoes have a decidedly neutral design.

Branding is kept very discreet, with only a small Travis Mathew tab visible on the upper. The remainder of the shoe is kept clean, with the texture provided by the knitted design delivering the most eye-catching design element.

The shoes are available in five different colourways, but we tested the Heather Sleet, which is somewhere between blue and grey. They are also available in a variety of neutral offerings, ranging from black to creamy white, with yellow detailing, which we particularly like.

All in all, the design is pretty safe, and if we're honest, it borders on being a touch boring.

Considering these shoes are competing with the likes of the Nike Jordan 1 Low and the Puma Avant, I think Travis Mathew could have been a bit more adventurous with the overall visuals of the shoe.

The design is by no means ugly, but at the same time, it doesn't draw you in with any technical features or creative highlights.

As always, this is purely our personal opinion, and the low-key design may really appeal to golfers who prefer minimalist aesthetics, but for us, we wanted just a bit more to shout about from a visual perspective.

Travis Mathew Daily Pro Hybrid Performance and Comfort:

While we weren't blown away by the look of the Daily Pro Hybrids, the comfort and stability they offer are excellent.

Most notably, the sweet spot cushioning system provides energy return while cushioning the heel with padding around the collar and sock liner.

It's also worth noting that the shoes are very light. Initially, we thought that would be quite detrimental to the level of stability on offer, but thankfully, the stiff midsole prevents the shoes from twisting too much during the swing.

That lack of twisting meant we had a very solid base to swing from and didn't have to worry about our feet or ankles rolling or moving too much.

The shoes also offer ample arch support, and we found that even after walking 18 holes, there were no noticeable signs of foot fatigue.

In terms of traction, these shoes rely on a series of rubber lugs covering the entire sole.

We tested the shoes during a dry day at Mannings Heath and had no issue with losing grip or footing.

That said, when moisture begins to gather underfoot, these shoes may well be called into question.

Personally, we don't typically recommend spikeless golf shoes for winter rounds. Considering that these shoes aren't waterproof, it's probably best to use them in the summer during warm and dry rounds.

All in all, these golf shoes are a very solid summer spikeless option. Thanks to their versatility, comfort, and stability, they are certainly one of the best spikeless options on the market in 2024.

Should you buy a pair of Travis Mathew Daily Pro Hybrid Golf Shoes?

If you're looking for a low-key, versatile, and incredibly comfortable summer golf shoe, the Travis Mathew Daily Pro Hybrid might be just for you.

Delivering plenty of traction in a lightweight upper that provides long-lasting comfort, the Daily Pro Hybrids would make an excellent addition to any golfer's shoe lineup.

While these shoes are perhaps not the most eye-catching, they are very solid performers and, thanks to the premium construction, will also last a long time if worn during the right time of the year.
