Never have I been so excited about a winter golf jacket before.

In fact I even think world number one Jason Day caught me swooning at one point when I followed him on day three of this year's Open Championship at Royal Troon.

In fact I even think world number one Jason Day caught me swooning at one point when I followed him on day three of this year's Open Championship at Royal Troon.
Not as a stalker or anything, but as a golf journalist. For that is my job.
When it comes to golf apparel, for me, it has to look and fit right before anything else. It could be the comfiest garment I've ever worn in my life, but if the style is off, it's a no from me.
Thankfully, adidas Golf's latest Climaheat Prime Jacket - available in sizes S-XXL in three choices of Black, Dark Grey Heather/Black or Ray Red - ticks that box and so instantly drew my attention from the off. As Mr Day will no doubt testify.
I'm not sure exactly what it is about the appearance of this quilted jacket that gets me all giddy inside, but I've a strong incline it's something to do with the bulletproof look of its quilted panels to the upper chest and upper back. It's like "come at me golf course, I'm ready to hit you with some three-pointers no matter what you've got to throw in my way today."
The jacket, also worn by Justin Rose, comes with two front zippered pockets for safe storage of accessories, as well as a full zip opening, elastic binding on the cuffs and bottom hem, plus a neat adidas brand mark on the back neck.
Next stop, performance and comfort, and again this product delivers.
The jacket features heat sealed pockets with "Primaloft" insulation for maximum warmth whilst remaining extremely lightweight and breathable, and without restricting the swing.
adidas Golf's clever climaheat technology fabric, inspired by natural fur, uses hollow fibres to trap in the warm air and let moisture out to dry you more quickly.
There's no question if you're out in the rain, then you are going to want to check out adidas Golf's new Gore-Tex Two-Layer Waterproof Jacket, as also favoured by the likes of Day, world number two Dustin Johnson and Olympic golf champion Justin Rose.
But if you know it's going to be a cold and windy one out there, which let's face it in Europe it likely will be during the months of November through to February, the adidas Golf Prime-Fill Jacket is well worth a closer look.
Verdict
A winter golf jacket with modern style, providing you with every penny's worth of your £85.
This fleece jacket also excels when it comes to comfort, warmth and overall fit, and if you're anything like me, it will be worn around the house and out on the town.
If it's good enough for the world number one, it's good enough for me.
