OUTRAGE! Costco REFUNDS customers over new Kirkland Signature ball
Costco customers who purchased new Kirkland Signature balls are getting their money back.
Costco customers that purchased the new Kirkland Signature Performance One golf ball are receiving a full refund following a series of complaints about the ball's poor durability, according to an article on Golf Digest.
According to initial reports, Costco is offering a full refund for customers both on price and shipping costs due to the ball not meeting the high standards of the company.
The Kirkland Signature Performance One ball was priced at $29.99 for a two-dozen pack and was classed as having a 4-piece urethane construction that was similar to many other premium golf balls on the market that were selling for three times the price.
According to Golf Digest's post, an apologetic email from Costco's vice president Tim Farmer was sent to all customers that purchased Kirkland Signature Performance One golf balls, informing them of their incoming refund.
“Our records show that you recently purchased the Kirkland Signature 4-piece Golf Balls,” read the email.
“Feedback we received since the item went on sale shows that some of the balls do not meet the high standards that are expected for the Kirkland Signature brand. Therefore, Costco is refunding your credit card for your purchase and the shipping costs (two separate credits). There is no need to return the item.
“As with any Kirkland Signature item, if ever you are not completely satisfied with the product, your money will be refunded. Please accept our apologies, and thank you for your continued support.”
The first Kirkland Signature golf ball received rave reviews in 2016 - we reviewed it here - but the golf ball was later accused by Acushnet of violating 10 patents, of which the case was settled in court two years later.
