McIlroy, 33, tugged his tee shot left during the second round of the tournament in Italy at the 185-yard, par-3 fourth hole.

The Northern Irishman found himself in the third cut of deep, thick rough. Following a full swing, he launched his TaylorMade TP5x high into the air.
There were audible gasps from the crowd as not only did he manage to get his golf ball inside 10 feet, he also sent the fattest looking divot pin high.
From there, McIlroy managed to save par to keep his round going. He started with three pars after firing a 3-under 67 in round one.

That is something special, isn't it?! Only 24 hours earlier McIlroy produced another incredible shot when he holed out from 115 yards for eagle.
McIlroy went on to birdie the final hole in darkness to open up a one-shot lead over Matt Fitzpatrick heading into the weekend.

The earlier part of the week saw McIlroy hit the headlines once again when he sounded off on the LIV Golf Invitational Series players.
The four-time major champion does not believe the LIV "rebels" should be allowed to be selected for the Ryder Cup.
Though not everyone agrees with him. This is why Matthew Fitzpatrick disagrees with McIlroy.
Fitzpatrick held the early lead in Rome after firing a first round 6-under 65. The Ryder Cup Europe captain, Luke Donald, was 5-under after 13 holes in his second round but came unstuck when he carded a devasting triple bogey at the 16th hole.
