WATCH: Tom Kim falls in mud, takes bath, saves bogey at US PGA
Tom Kim apologised to Nike for destroying his shirt after falling in the mud at Oak Hill.
Tom Kim had an interesting start to the PGA Championship, to say the least.
This viral moment happened as the young American played his opening round at Oak Hill.
He hit a wild drive towards the mud on the par-4 sixth hole and was forced to wade through the weeds to look for his golf ball.
So far, pretty normal right? But once the cameras returned to Kim he was absolutely caked in mud. I mean, it was all over him.
He and his caddie Joe Skovron (who used to loop for Rickie Fowler) did their very best to remove as much mud as possible.
"I was hoping they wouldn't show it," Kim told Sky Sports after his opening round of 73.
Yeah, good luck with that.
It was so bad that Kim decided to go to a nearby creek to take a bath. He played the rest of his round with his pants rolled up.
But the Nike shirt? It was absolutely ruined. "I apologise for that," he said.
Oh, and Kim manage to save a bogey on the hole, despite his wayward tee shot.
