'Proud' Tiger Woods posts congratulatory message to Rory McIlroy after Masters win
Revealed: Tiger Woods sent a congratulatory message to Rory McIlroy after seeing the new Masters champion join him in career grand slam club.
Tiger Woods immediately took to social media to offer his congratulations to 2025 Masters champion Rory McIlroy, who became just the sixth player in the modern era to capture the career grand slam.
Woods became the youngest golfer in the history of the game to achieve the career grand slam aged 24 in 2000.
The golf legend joined Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus in the record books.
But 25 years on, McIlroy, 35, has now made it a six-man club and Woods, now 49, could not be happier for his fellow TaylorMade staffer.
"Welcome to the club Rory McIlroy," tweeted 15-time major champion Woods after watching McIlroy defeat Justin Rose in a playoff to win The Masters.
"Completing the grand slam at Augusta is something special.
"Your determination during this round, and this entire journey has shown through, and now you're a part of history.
"Proud of you!"

McIlroy let slip a four-shot lead with eight holes left to play in the final round.
But despite making bogey on the 72nd hole to squander a one-shot lead down the last, McIlroy wasted little time in putting things right by making birdie from four feet on the first extra hole in a playoff against Rose.
The loss for Rose marks his third runner-up finish at The Masters, and also his second playoff loss having been defeated by Sergio Garcia in 2017.
McIlroy was reduced to tears as he fell to his knees on the hallowed Georgia turf.
The win marks McIlroy's fifth career major title and his first since the 2014 U.S. PGA.
McIlroy won a record first prize of $4.2m for winning the 2025 Masters.

Woods was unable to take part in the 2025 Masters Tournament as he continues to recover from surgery to repair a ruptured achilles last month.
The former World No.1 is now not expected to return to competitive action until 2026, which by that time he will be 50 years old and eligible to play on the PGA Tour Champions should he so wish.
Woods did not attend the annual Masters Champions Dinner hosted by Scottie Scheffler on Tuesday night.
But he did make a special announcement in collaboration with Augusta National earlier in the week.
Woods' new girlfriend Vanessa Trump broke her silence during the week of The Masters, too.
