The best part of Nick Dunlap's Masters disasterclass was this mind-boggling stat

Nick Dunlap had the honour of shooting the worst round at The Masters in more than a decade.

Nick Dunlap had a nightmare start to the 2025 Masters.

The 21-year-old - who hit the headlines last year for becoming the first amateur since Phil Mickelson to win on the PGA Tour in 33 years - carded an 18-over 90 at Augusta National on Thursday.

And the best part about it was that he didn't even record a single three-putt.

Dunlap averaged 1.83 putts per green but seemed to find trouble everywhere else.

He kicked off the first men's major of the year with a bogey and dropped more shots at the third and fourth before carding a triple bogey at the fifth.

Another bogey meant Dunlap made the turn in 43 strokes.

The back nine is where the real fun started, with Dunlap making as many as four double bogeys and three bogeys.

Fortunately for Dunlap, it wasn't the highest score in Masters history. Charlie Kunkle shot 95 in 1956.

Some social media users tore into Dunlap.

Whilst others expressed sympathy and gave him credit for not withdrawing.

"The most humbling sport there is," one wrote.

Another added: "One of us!"

At the other end of the leaderboard, England's Justin Rose hit the front with a sublime 7-under 65.

Reigning champion Scottie Scheffler carded a 68 to sit in a tie for second with Ludvig Aberg and Corey Conners.

Bryson DeChambeau has also started well.

Rory McIlroy was 4-under after 14 holes but dropped four shots down the stretch to card a disappointing 72.
