How good is this man?
The world number one flags it at the par-5 15th to set up an eagle chance.
His attempt slides by and but it's an easy birdie for Scheffler and he moves to five under.
And his tee shot at the par-3 16th is a beauty, too!
McIlroy also puts his close.
Very likely Scheffler moves to six under, though.
Mickelson +1 (17)
Bogeys on 16 and 17 sees Lefty slip back to one over.
He found the water at 16 and missed the green short on 17.
Will Mickelson make the cut?!
McIlroy -2 (13)
It's been an interesting day for McIlroy so far.
He's hung in there and now his score is moving in the right direction.
The Ulsterman birdies 14 with a nice 15 footer and is now two under.
Woods E (4)
The wind is getting up and Woods misses the green long on the par-3 fourth.
His chip from the fringe comes off hot and he can't salvage a par.
Hatton -2 (5)
The Englishman was furious with his tee shot but chips in from 50 yards for the unlikeliest of birdies.
Clark -2, Hovland -2, Smith -2 (11)
Hovland birdied three in a row from the seventh but gave two back on the 10th.
The Norwegian missed the green way, way right with his second and had absolutely no hope of saving par.
A double bogey sees him fall back to two under.
Scheffler -4, McIlroy -1, Schauffele +1 (13)
Scheffler and Schauffele pick up birdies at the 13th as McIlroy settles for a par.
Scheffler was fortunate given it looked like he hit his second into the water but his ball settled on the bank, leaving a straightforward up and down.
Niemann -1 (16)
The Chilean has been plying his trade in the LIV Golf League for two years.
He was given a special invite by the Masters committee to be here.
And he's ticking along nicely.
Johnson +1, Morikawa +1, Fleetwood E (1)
Not the best start for former champ DJ and fellow American Collin Morikawa.
Both players drop shots at the first.
Meanwhile England's Tommy Fleetwood starts with a par.
Former U.S. Open champ Gary Woodland played alongside DeChambeau today.
Here's what he said about his playing partner: "The thing about Bryson, people don't talk about it, he's always been one of the best putters in the world.
"When he drives it like he did today, I mean, he drove it really good, and he makes putts, he's obviously very good.
"It was a clinic. It was impressive. He didn't get out of position hardly at all, and he rolled it very, very nice."
Thomas +1, Matsuyama +3, Zalatoris -3
Zalatoris knocks it close on 13 and rolls in the eagle.
Boy does this kid love a major championship.
After a slow start, McIlroy is now finding his stride.
He follows Scheffler with a birdie and moves to one under.
Their playing partner Xander Schauffele is still stuck on two over.
Scottie Scheffler finds the bunker at 12 and is faced with little green to work with.
He'd take inside 10 feet to save par but instead is delighted as his second clatters the pin and drops for a birdie.
Meanwhile Brooks Koepka bogeys the first...
Woods birdied the first but he's already in trouble at two.
He had to go lefty with his second after his tee shot at two nestled up against the stump of a tree.
With his third, he fired it over the green.
He needs to get up and down to save par.

We didn't know what to expect from the Norwegian, but he is going well so far.
Hovland birdied the second, then found more birdies at seven, eight and nine to move to four under.
Hats off to Bryson DeChambeau, who two-putts 18 to return a scorecard for 65 on day one of the 2024 Masters.
That was some round by the LIV player.
His card contained eight birdies and one bogey, which came at the ninth.
Is it too soon to get excited?
Woods hits his approach with an 8-iron pin high from 170 yards then rolls in the birdie putt and sends the patrons crazy.
What a start from the 15-time major champ.
Bryson DeChambeau finds another birdie, this time from long range at 17.
The American is now three clear at the summit on seven under.
My word.
Tiger Woods is underway.
The 48-year-old hits a beautiful fade and finds the fairway at the first.
Woods is playing with Jason Day, who tugs his tee shot left.
The third player in their group, Max Homa, hits a beauty.
Greg Norman has been spotted following Rory McIlroy's group at Augusta National.
Norman was denied an official pass by tournament chiefs so he paid for a ticket.
The 2016 champion was only 80 per cent sure he was going to play this week given he is still recovering from shoulder surgery last September.
He returns a scorecard of four under 68, which he will be absolutely delighted with.
The Englishman is grinning from ear-to-ear as he walks off 18.
Ladies and gentleman, Bryson DeChambeau has moved to six under with a birdie at the par-3 16th.
The former U.S. Open champ now has a two-shot lead over Ryan Fox and Ben An.
What a day for Bryson.
McIlroy finds the par-5 eighth in two and lags his long, eagle putt to inside 10 feet.
And it drops!
McIlroy is back to level par and five behind DeChambeau.
