Jon Rahm after Masters performance? "It's hard to have to stay now to put the jacket on somebody else"
Jon Rahm admitted it was difficult to stick around Augusta National to place the green jacket on a new winner after a poor performance at the 2024 Masters.
Jon Rahm admitted it was hard to stick around Augusta National to place the green jacket on a new winner after enduring a lousy Masters.
Rahm came into the 88th Masters as a somewhat unknown quantity after his mega-money move to LIV Golf last December.
The Spaniard had played 18 fewer competitive rounds this year compared to last when he defeated Brooks Koepka down the stretch.
He made the cut here by the skin of his teeth in blustery conditions but was still less than pleased with his title defence.

Rahm opened with a ho-hum 73 before adding rounds of 76, 72 and 76 for a nine-over par total.
To put Rahm's performance into some context, 58-year-old Jose Maria Olazabal, twice a green jacket winner, matched his 72-hole total.
"There's a lot of things that contributed to me not having my best week," Rahm said.
"And one of them I think was obviously on the greens, which is not easy."

As soon as Rahm finished his final round Sweden's Ludvig Aberg and American duo Collin Morikawa and Scottie Scheffler were tied for the lead.
It was anyone's guess who would prevail, but that was the furthest thing from Rahm's mind.
A reporter asked Rahm what it meant to him to come here as the defending champion.
Rahm said: "Well, it's harder to talk about it when I've played this bad.
"It's been nice to have some receptions walking up to some tees no matter what my score was and seeing the appreciation.
"But when you don't have your best week, it's not that -- it's hard to have to stay now to put the jacket on somebody else and never really ever have a chance."
Rahm was one of 13 LIV players who teed it up at this Masters.
Heading into the final round, only Bryson DeChambeau and Cameron Smith had a chance for victory.
