An animated Jason Day revealed his thoughts on every player's obligation to speak to the media after he endured a tough finish to his final round at The Masters.

Day, who has finished in the top 10 at Augusta National five times inclduing a runner-up finish in 2011, spoke candidly to a pool of reporters after he finished T8 at the 2025 Masters.

The 13-time winner on the PGA Tour was sitting T5 before bogeying the final two holes to finish on 5-under par.

"It’s hard to walk off the golf course and go straight into an interview even though – I’m pretty headless right now," a frustrated Day, 37, told the media at Augusta National.

The former World No. 1 was asked whether he would have taken a top-10 finish at the 2025 Masters considering where his game was in 2020.

“Yeah its nice to be like third group from the end, at least trying to give myself a chance at winning the Masters, but obviously, I’m pretty gutted right now.

“It’s annoying to give myself the opportunities out there and not be able to take them - it’s a step in the right direction, that’s all I can say.”

Day's latest comments follow Shane Lowry’s reaction after the third round when he showed his frustrations with having to talk to the media.

Lowry said: “I’m going to go and – we talked about Collin Morikawa a few weeks ago.

“I think we need time. I think I need half an hour now to sit there and gather my thoughts. I can’t be coming to talk to you guys straightaway, It shouldn’t be happening; I don’t agree with it.

“Tennis players have to talk to the media, but they have half an hour or an hour before they have to do it.

“I feel like we should have the same thing.”

Rory McIlroy also recently spoke about not having speak with the media.

In fact McIlroy defended Collin Morikawa's recent decision to shun the press after he was narrowly defeated to the title at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last month.

McIlroy shunned speaking to reporters after slumping to a level-par 72 in the first round of The Masters.

But he of course went on to win a first Green Jacket on Sunday to capture the career grand slam.

Day was asked if he’d like the interview to happen 20 minutes from now, to which he responded: “I understand, it is what it is.

“We should be able to be professional enough to at least keep our cool.

“It’s really hard when you’ve just walked off the golf course, and you’re pretty furious with how you played, especially at the end.”

If Day thought his finish was bad, it was nothing compared to his playing partner Aberg, who finishd bogey-triple to move from third to seventh.

Nevertheless, it marked a second straight top-10 finish for Aberg in his first two appearances at The Masters.

Day, who won his sole major to date at the 2015 US PGA, was also asked if his latest result will give him encouragement to take into the rest of the season.

The Australian's T8 at The Masters marked his third top-10 of the 2025 season.

Day, who last won on the PGA Tour at the Byron Nelson in May 2023, said: “Yeah, I think so. Like I said before, it’s like when i sit down and digest it all, I think it’s a good positive step in the right direction.

“Just a few minor tweaks here and there and a few more putts go in, it might be a different story this week.

“I’ve got to just take the positives when I sit down and think about how the week went.”

Day will tee it up on 17 April at the RBC Heritage, but 2025 Masters champion and new member of the career grand slam Rory McIlroy has decided to pull out of the PGA Tour's latest $20m Signature Event.

McIlroy will be next back in competitive action when he teams up with Lowry to defend their title at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans from 24-27 April.
