Golf legend Sir Nick Faldo claimed LIV Golf star Sergio Garcia should have been working in McDonald's after seeing his bright red and yellow outfit during the first round of The Masters

Faldo, 67, made his comments about Garcia while appearing alongside Nick Dougherty and Rich Beem in the Sky Sports Golf commentary box during the day one evening coverage from famed Augusta National.

Garcia, who is the captain of Fireballs GC on the LIV Golf League, typically wears a lot of red and yellow outfits not only to represent his team but also reflect his Spanish nationality.

The all-time European Ryder Cup points scorer and 2017 Masters champion opted for a red cap and shirt, yellow trousers, white and yellow glove, and a pair of white and red adidas Golf shoes in the first round at the 2025 Masters.

"Wow, give him a pair of roller blades and he could serve me a hamburger with that outfit couldn't he? What an outfit that is..." said Faldo after getting his first sight of Garcia on the course.

Faldo was of course referring Garcia's outfit to that of Ronald McDonald, the clown character used as the primary mascot of the McDonald's fast-food restaurant chain.

Sky Sports Golf lead host Nick Dougherty said: "I think that's only something Sir Nick could get away with saying to be fair..."

Faldo added: "What a 2 and 8 that is."

For those not used to cockney rhyming slang, 2 and 8 means a state.

It wasn't just Faldo that was thinking about Ronald McDonald, at least taking a look at golf social media...

Garcia started his round on a positive note with a birdie at the par-4 1st but he would give the shot back with a bogey at the par-3 6th and he followed it with another dropped shot at the par-4 9th to go out in 1-over par.

He moved back to level par with a second birdie of the day at the par-5 15th.

Garcia is well off the pace as it stands in terms of winning a second Green Jacket.

That's because England's Justin Rose is out in front at 7-under par after the first 18 holes.

Rose memorably lost out to Garcia in a playoff at the 2017 Masters.

Pre-tournament favourite Scottie Scheffler got off to a fast start with a 4-under 68.

Scheffler is looking to become the first player since Tiger Woods in 2002 to successfully defend The Masters.

Only Jack Nicklaus and Faldo are the only other players in Masters history to defend the coveted Green Jacket.

Nicklaus successfully defended The Masters in 1966, while Faldo did it in 1990.

Faldo won three Masters titles (1989, 1990, 1996), while Nicklaus is the all-time record Masters winner with six wins (1963, 1965, 1966, 1972, 1975, 1986).
