Exclusive: Jason Day 'not sure' if Malbon outfit choices will pass for 2025 Masters

Former World No.1 Jason Day has revealed he's waiting to hear back from Augusta National about his Malbon fits for the 2025 Masters.

Jason Day says he's unsure if Augusta National will let him wear what Malbon have lined up for him at the 2025 Masters.

Day has turned heads repeatedly since he signed with the clothing brand last January following his split with the swoosh.

The Australian - who recently told us he's back working with his long-time swing coach Colin Swatton - said he's still waiting to hear back from Augusta chiefs.

"So we have to get clearance on the scripting this year," Day exclusively told GolfMagic ahead of the Arnold Palmer Invitational

At the 2024 Masters, Day was asked to remove a knitted sweater vest because Augusta National deemed it 'too busy'.

Day didn't make a fuss and removed the white vest that featured large blue and red lettering that read "Malbon Championship Golf".

That sweater was later auctioned off, fetching $17,300 for his Brighter Days Foundation which supports children in Ohio.

"To Malbon's credit they've got some bold stuff, but I'm not sure that it will pass [this year]," Day said.

"So we'll see how it goes. Hopefully they'll say yes and if not then we'll be going back to the drawing board and trying to come up with something different."

What does he think about the reaction he has received thus far from the golf world?

"There's good and bad obviously," he said.

"When you're trying to shake the tree a little bit - well not even shaking the tree - you're just trying to come through with a different style and a different way to wear some gear.

"Malbon, they know how to market very well and they certainly have a lot of unique styles which is fantastic.

"I think some of the style you either love it or hate it, and that's okay because they have golf gear and they have street wear. They have options which is nice."

The option he went with at Pebble Beach was certainly his boldest to date.

Trevor Immelman joked he looked like he had forgotten his luggage when he turned up wearing a full grey sweatsuit.

"When I was playing at Pebble this year, I feel like I stopped the whole range walking down there in sweats," Day said.

"Maybe that's not going to come back out again but I gave it a shot to see how it came out and I think some people liked it and some people hated it."

Regarding reaction from peers, Day said it has been mixed.

The 37-year-old certainly likes to mix it up and standout at the moment, that much is clear.

One of his favourites was the 'mountain range' sweater he wore at the Farmers Insurance Open last month.

"That was very, very classy stuff," he said. "I obviously had the visor, and that sweater on that was part of the reserve collection.

"I think golf is so much better layered. Like when you have layers on when it's a little bit cool, it looks better.

"When you have more layers it's like another art piece to the collection. When it's warm everyone kind of looks very similar with a polo shirt and pants and it's very hard to kind of standout."

Jason Day was speaking to GolfMagic for the latest episode of the Beyond the Clubhouse podcast, which is released tomorrow.
