Bryson DeChambeau explains why he stared down patrons on 16 at The Masters
LIV Golf superstar Bryson DeChambeau reveals why he stared at patrons across the pond on the par-3 16th at The Masters.
Bryson DeChambeau produced a stunning birdie-birdie-par-birdie finish to set up a mouth-watering final-round pairing with Rory McIlroy for The Masters, and he owes it down to largely being fired up by the patrons at famed Augusta National.
With McIlroy having charged into a commanding lead in the group ahead of him after making his second eagle of the day at 15, DeChambeau knew he need to act and act fast.
And boy did he do that.
The LIV Golf superstar got up and down for birdie from the left side of the green at the par-5 15th and he then marched purposefully towards the tee box at the par-3 16th while being cheered on by the patrons.
Fuelled by that energy, DeChambeau stuffed his approach to two feet, using the slope in the middle of the green to perfection.
As he strode towards the green, DeChambeau stopped and stared at the patrons to the left of him across the pond.
Why exactly did he do that?
Let Bryson tell you...
"I was just getting the patrons going, having a bit of a fun with them," said DeChambeau.
"It makes me focus more, I don't know, it's a fun thing that whenever I feel like I feed into the crowd, especially the patrons here, it just, they give that energy back, and it's a cool feeling.
"So I used that a couple times today."

DeChambeau tapped in for birdie on 16 and then made a par on the par-4 17th.
It looked for all the world that DeChambeau would end up three shots adrift of McIlroy heading into the final round when he found the left fringe with his approach shot at the par-4 18th.
But DeChambeau had other ideas as he binned the birdie attempt from long range to bring the house down.

The LIV Golf superstar has now set up a final-round pairing with PGA Tour superstar McIlroy in what looks like being a two-man showdown for the coveted Green Jacket.
It's fair to say there's probably going to be a 50/50 split with the patrons as to who they want to win The Masters on Sunday, since McIlroy and DeChambeau are without question the two most popular current players in the game right now.
McIlroy is of course going in search of the career grand slam, while two-time US Open champion DeChambeau is seeking a major hat-trick.
DeChambeau and McIlroy head to the 1st tee on Sunday at 2.30pm local time, which 7.30pm for UK fans.
"It will be the grandest stage that we've had in a long time, and I'm excited for it," said DeChambeau ahead of joining McIlroy in the final pairing on Sunday.
"We both want to win really, really badly, and it's -- you know, shoot, there's a lot of great players behind us, too. Got to be mindful of that and focus on -- it's about who can control themselves and who can execute the golf shots the best.
"It's going to be an electric atmosphere."
