Who is Wyndham Clark's Caddie? Meet John Ellis
Wyndham Clark caddie: Who is Wyndham Clark's caddie? Here is everything you need to know about the PGA Tour star's looper John Ellis.
Since turning pro in 2017, Wyndham Clark has won three times on the PGA Tour, including the 2023 US Open. Throughout that time, he has had John Ellis on his bag.
Having attended the University of Oregon, Ellis turned pro in 2003. He enjoyed a successful career, winning the Canadian Tour's order of merit in 2008, having won three times that same season.
In the same year, Ellis reached a career-high world ranking position of 245th. He went on to compete in a handful of PGA Tour events, with his best finish coming at the Fry's.com Open, where he came T24th.
Ellis also competed in two US Opens but unfortunately missed the cut on both occasions.
Having served his time on Tour, Ellis hung up his clubs in 2016 and returned to the University of Oregon to take up a role as the assistant to the head coach of the men's golf team.
It was during his time as a coach at Oregon that he met Clark. During Clark's final year at University, Ellis was assigned to be his caddie.
A year later, Clark turned pro, and Ellis remained on his bag, and by 2018, the pair had earned playing rights on the PGA Tour.
During their first year together on the PGA Tour, Clark recorded three top-ten finishes, with his best result coming at the 3M Open, where he came tied for fifth.
Clark finally broke into the top 100 in the world in 2023 following a T5 finish at the Valspar Championship, and only two months later, he entered the winner's circle for the first time at the Wells Fargo Championship.
Only months after securing his first victory, Clark went on to win the 2023 US Open at LA Country Club in a dramatic single-shot victory over Rory McIlroy.
The victory also secured Clark's position on the 2023 US Ryder Cup Team. Despite the US team being blown away by Europe, Clark finished the week at Marco Simone Country Club with a respectable 1-1-1 record.
Clark and Ellis secured their third PGA Tour victory at the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, solidifying Clark's position in the world's top-10.
Following a successful start to 2024, Clark and Ellis will also be representing Team USA at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
