Where does Rory McIlroy rank in the all-time list of major championship winning golfers?
Rory McIlroy has finally completed the career grand slam and ended his 11-year drought, but where does he now rank in the all-time list of major championship winning golfers?
Rory McIlroy has not only ended his 11-year drought in the majors at the 2025 Masters but he has completed the career grand slam, becoming the first player to do so since Tiger Woods in 2000.
McIlroy, 35, has at long last achieved golf immortality and become the first European in golf history to do it in the process.
That was after he defeated Justin Rose with a birdie on the first playoff hole to win The Masters on Sunday.
The Northern Irishman now joins fellow golf legends Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods in the record books.
Becoming just the second player to achieve the grand slam in 59 years, McIlroy’s achievement is phenomenal.
The Northern Irishman’s first major victory came in 2011 at the U.S. Open, where, aged just 22, he won by eight strokes.
He also set 11 U.S. Open records that week. Those records included the lowest total 72-hole score (268) and the lowest total under par (16-under par), which he still holds today alongside fellow five-time major champion and his good friend Brooks Koepka.
McIlroy's second and fourth major titles came at the PGA Championship in 2012 and 2014.
His 2012 victory at the PGA was also by eight strokes, and it surpassed Nicklaus’ record of a seven-stroke win, which had held fim since 1980.
McIlroy's third major title came at Royal Liverpool in 2014 at The Open and he became only the seventh player to etch his name on the famous Claret Jug by going wire-to-wire for 72 holes.
That Open victory also meant McIlroy became the first European to win three different majors, and he joined Woods and Nicklaus as the only players since 1934 to win three majors by the age of 25.
Now, having finally notched his fifth major title and a first Masters to capture the career grand slam, where does it put him in the all-time list of major champions?
GolfMagic has list the current list of all-time major champions below.
