Unseen footage of Rory McIlroy's immediate heartbreak at the US Open earlier this season is set to be released by Netflix in 'Full Swing' season three.

Netflix has now confirmed a third series of 'Full Swing' will hit their screens in early 2025.

No official date has yet been confirmed.

According to golf reporter Dan Rapaport, who once again features in the Netflix docuseries, the cameras picked up every second as McIlroy entered the locker room and then stormed out of Pinehurst as soon as Bryson DeChambeau defeated him by one shot at the 2024 US Open.

McIlroy had one hand on the US Open in the closing stages of the tournament, but he was left to rue two short missed par putts on 16 and 18 as LIV Golf's DeChambeau stepped in to etch his name on the trophy for a second time.

The Northern Irishman was going in search of a fifth career major title but more importantly his first in just shy of 10 years.

As a frustrated McIlroy was gathering his belongings in the locker room while DeChambeau headed down the 18th, CEO Mike Whan reportedly questioned security guards 'do we want them [camera crew] in here?'

According to the Daily Express, as soon as McIlroy realised DeChambeau had got up and down from the front bunker to make par on 18 and win the US Open, the Ulsterman 'made a swift exit from the course and snubbed his media obligations following a tense moment in the champions changing area'.

The Express report adds: 'Whan showed sensitivity to McIlroy in a low moment and acknowledged that the same sentiment was not shared by the Netflix crew, who were keen to capture the runner-up's immediate reaction to his dramatic defeat.'

Some PGA Tour fans were critical of McIlroy for not sticking around to congratulate DeChambeau on his US Open victory, while other fans thought it was completely understandable given his anguish at yet another major slipping through his fingers.

The World No.3 did eventually congratulate DeChambeau on his US Open win the next time he bumped into him.

McIlroy then confirmed he would be taking a short break from competition following his US Open heartbreak.

McIlroy returned at the Scottish Open a month later and went on to finish T4.

He would miss the cut at The Open, finish T5 at the Olympics and go on to finish T9 in the PGA Tour's season-long FedEx Cup.

McIlroy is now turning his attention to the DP World Tour where he is competing in both this week's Irish Open and next week's BMW PGA.

He will then bid to emulate Seve Ballesteros' haul of six Harry Vardon trophies with victory in the Race to Dubai this November.

McIlroy recently confirmed he would be reducing his playing schedule next season.

Other angles of interest in the next Netflix 'Full Swing' series, according to Rapaport, will be Scottie Scheffler's shocking arrest just before his second round tee time at the US PGA, and a recap of his incredible eight-win season.

Netflix will also provide more details behind Keegan Bradley's shock appointment as 2025 US Ryder Cup captain, where he took advantage of Tiger Woods withdrawing his name from the list as a result of his commitments to the ongoing PGA Tour-PIF merger and his new TGL starting up in 2025.

The first season of 'Full Swing' was generally met with positive reviews.

Primarily, the show focussed on the off-course bickering after LIV Golf entered the scene and started snatching PGA Tour talent.

Both seasons featured eight episodes, each following a different player.

The PGA Tour claimed the season one metrics showed 42% of viewers watched more pro golf on TV after watching.

But they have not released any data about the second season.
