Austria's Sepp Straka is closing in on a third PGA Tour title after surging into a four-shot lead thru 54 holes at The American Express.
Straka, 31, carded a brilliant 8-under 64 at La Quinta to vault into the outright lead on 23-under par on Saturday.
The European Ryder Cup star now finds himself four shots clear of the chasing pack.
Justin Lower, 2007 American Express champion Charley Hoffman and former World No.1 Jason Day are in a tie for second on 19-under par.
Mark Hubbard and Patrick Cantlay are a further shot back in tied fifth on 18-under par.
Straka has impressively not made a single bogey so far all week.
Pre-tournament favourite Justin Thomas is six shots off the pace following a 68.
Straka is seeking the third PGA Tour title of his career on Sunday.
He won his first title at the 2022 Honda Classic where he also became the first ever Austrian to win on the PGA Tour.
Straka then added a second title at the 2023 John Deere Classic.
He is currently ranked 36th in the world.
A victory on Sunday would push Straka into the world's top 25 for the first time since last summer.
