Hideki Matsuyama produced a new PGA Tour 72-hole record low score to clinch The Sentry and beat Collin Morikawa by three strokes.
The Japanase golfer began the final round at the Plantation Course in Kapalua with a one stroke lead over the American.
Despite a spirited performance by the 2020 US PGA and 2021 Open Champion, Matsuyama held his nerve on the back nine.
He hit one eagle, seven birdies and one bogey in his final round of 8-under 65.
In the third round, Matsuyama fired an 11-under 62 to set up the opportunity to try and break the record that was previously held by Cameron Smith.
Matsuyama drained a birdie putt from 8ft 1ins on the final hole to break the record and immediately held both arms aloft in celebration.
"That last putt, it felt like if I make it, then it's going to be the record, so I'm so happy that it went in," Matsuyama told Golf Channel's Todd Lewis in the immediate aftermath of his 11th PGA Tour victory.
Morikawa played well and carded a 6-under 67, but he dented his chances with a sloppy bogey at the par-4 sixth.
Matsuyama also picked up the top prize of $3.6m.
The aforementioned Smith shattered the record when he won here in 2022, the same year that he departed for the rival LIV Golf.
Only three other players in Tour history have finished on 30-under or lower.
Ernie Els set the record of 31 under at Kapalua in 2003 and won by eight shots.
Jordan Spieth shot 30 under in 2016, also winning by eight.
And Dustin Johnson shot 30 under at TPC Boston in 2020 and won by 11.
"Today he just never let up"
Collin Morikawa on the disappointment of not winning: "There was a good handful [of shots] that I wish I could have back.
"When you don't get it done you kind of, that's where your mind goes to.
"I know there is a lot of positives, and it's going to take me a few hours or a day to get over it."
Morikawa on Matsuyama's record: "I mean, he was matching me yesterday shot for shot, and I felt like I was playing lights out, right?
"Like, yes, you could leave some shots out there, but you shoot 11-under on any golf course, you're going to be happy, right?
"Today he just never let up. Then you get to the third hole and the guy holes it."
Matsuyama on his playing partner: "I knew Collin was going to play good today, so I was going to say, hey, I'm going to shoot 10-under today, and that's the attitude I had."
