Scottie Scheffler has Tiger Woods in his sights for PGA Tour career earnings
Scottie Scheffler is now up to seventh in the all-time PGA Tour career earnings after wrapping up his fifth win of the season.
Scottie Scheffler has vaulted up to seventh in the all-time PGA Tour career earnings list after landing a fifth victory in his last eight starts at the Memorial Tournament.
Scheffler, 27, has now pocketed a cool $66,589, 782 in career prize money on the PGA Tour.
Not bad going considering he only turned professional six years ago.
He also only won the first of 11 career PGA Tour titles in February 2022 at the WM Phoenix Open.
But Scheffler's rise has been astronomical the past 24 months, especially in 2024.
Scheffler's narrow one-shot victory at the Memorial Tournament at famed Muirfield Village on Sunday, which saw him bank $4m, marked a fifth win in his last eight starts on the PGA Tour.
It also marked his first W as a new father, and his first since shockingly being arrested on day two of the US PGA.
Incredibly, his win at the Memorial Tournament marked the first of his career outside the month of April.
Scheffler now heads into this week's US Open as a warm favourite (3/1) to pick up a third career major title and his second major of the year.
The runaway World No.1 slipped on the iconic green jacket for a second time in three years at The Masters in April.
But back to the top of the story, and Scheffler has now surged into the top 10 for all-time PGA Tour career earnings.
His latest win sees him jump two spots ahead of Justin Rose and Adam Scott.
Scheffler is now just some $5m behind a spot in the top five, which will surely happen before the end of the year given his current form.
Especially when signature events are worth $4m for the winner each time.
There is only one more signature event on the PGA Tour this season, coming next week at the Travelers Championship.
But let's be frank, every week on the PGA Tour these days is a chance to break the bank.
PGA Tour players are playing for the most money they've ever played for in 2024, and it seemingly shows no sign of relenting.
This has been fuelled by a recent $1.5 billion investment from Strategic Sports Group (SSG), and there is potential for even more in light of the ongoing framework agreement with the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), the bankrollers of the LIV Golf League.
Scheffler is now just $54,409,384 behind all-time career money leader and 82-time PGA Tour winner Tiger Woods ($120,999,166).
Phil Mickelson, who is now on LIV Golf, is in second place on $96,649,701, and Rory McIlroy is in third on $87,808,224.
You have to feel McIlroy and Scheffler will close down Woods' total sooner rather than later given all the millions that are on the line on the PGA Tour right now.
