Scottie Scheffler cracks up reporters with response to Rory McIlroy 'chef' comment
Scottie Scheffler responded to Rory McIlroy's joke that the American could afford a chef after he cut his hand over the Christmas period.
Scottie Scheffler cracked up reporters with his response to Rory McIlroy's suggestion that he's wealthy enough to afford a personal chef.
This time last year McIlroy offered some unsolicited advice to the reigning Masters champion.
The Northern Irishman suggested Scheffler should try a mallet putter as, despite his ball-striking prowess, the American was all at sea on the greens.
Scheffler eventually accepted McIlroy's advice - swapping his Scotty Cameron Timeless Tourtype GSS for a TaylorMade Spider Tour X - and went on an absolute tear.
He won nine times overall including a second green jacket at Augusta National, a second Players Championship title as well as an Olympic gold medal.
Scheffler also won a whopping four signature events, the Tour Championship at East Lake and helped Team USA to a Presidents Cup victory in hostile territory.
McIlroy was asked about Scheffler's injury in his pre-tournament news conference before the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
The 35-year-old said he thought that the way Scheffler hurt himself was going to be 'more interesting' than cutting his hand on a wine glass whilst making homemade pasta.
Scheffler said he was in a rental house at the time the accident happened and he didn't have the proper tool to make the raviolis.
He pressed down on the glass, it cracked and he cut his right palm on the stem.
McIlroy asked: "Why are you cooking yourself?"
The four-time major champ also offered his solution to solve the PGA Tour's pace of play problem.
He also emphatically denied there is an issue with TGL's launch monitor.

In response to McIlroy, Scheffler said he had a personal chef at home.
"Her name is Meredith, she's pretty cute," he said.
Scheffler finally offered the full details of what happened.
After sustaining the cut, he said it took 15 minutes to stop the bleeding.
"We wanted to make them from scratch so you've got to roll the dough and you've got to cut the dough," he said.
"But we were at a rental house so we didn't have like the right tools and the only thing there was a wine glass that we found.
"I was -- had my hand on top of it and it broke, which side note, I've heard nothing but horror stories since this happened about wine glasses, so be careful.
"Even if you're like me and you don't drink wine, you've got to be real careful with wine glasses."
He continued: "Yeah, it broke and the stem kind of got me in the hand. So it's one of those deals where like it's truly -- I can't live in a bubble, like got to live my life and accidents happen. You know, it could have been a lot worse.
"I actually talked to somebody who did the exact same thing and the stem went straight through their hand.
"It's one of those deals where immediately after it happened I was mad at myself because I was like gosh, that's so stupid, but you just don't think about it when you're in the moment."
