Ryder Cup star ruthlessly trolls US fans with the help of his caddie
Bob MacIntyre will be public enemy number one in America this week following his decision to rub salt in some old Ryder Cup wounds at the Valspar Championship.
Bob MacIntyre opted to poke fun at American golf fans this week with the help of his caddie.
The Valspar Championship has a unique tradition of allowing players to customise their caddie's bibs with something other than the player's name.
With that in mind, MacIntyre decided to take the opportunity to remind fans at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort about Europe's Ryder Cup thrashing of Team USA at Marco Simone Country Club just over six months ago.
MacIntyre was a rookie in the European team that was looking to reclaim the coveted trophy following a humiliating defeat at Whistling Straights in 2021.
The Scotsman played a pivotal role in recapturing the cup and forged a formidable partnership with European veteran Justin Rose in the process.
Rose and MacIntyre salvaged a valuable half-point against Max Homa and Wyndham Clark in the Friday fourballs before defeating the formidable pairing of Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth 3&2 on Saturday afternoon.
MacIntyre then went on to beat reigning US Open champion Clark in the Sunday singles 2&1.
Europe's post-victory celebrations were iconic, and MacIntyre famously led from the front before being spotted looking rather hungover as he headed home with family and friends.
Judging by his sartorial decisions this week, it appears the party never ended for MacIntyre.
Ahead of the opening round of the Valspar, he teased his fans on Twitter with the following image, hinting that the 2023 Ryder Cup score would be on his caddie's bib.
Upon seeing the tweet, several fans urged MacIntyre to follow through on his idea, with a number replying, "Do it, do it."
Following the advice of his trusty X followers, MacIntyre committed to the joke and turned up on day one at the Valspar with his not-so-subtle dig at Team USA on full show.

On the whole, the Scotsman's joke appears to have been well-received online; however, some cautious fans have warned him of the backlash he may face from the notoriously raucous New York fans who will be turning out at Bethpage Black for the Ryder Cup in 2025
With a quite literal target on his back, MacIntyre currently sits T48th after round one, six shots back from Kevin Streelman, who holds the overnight lead.
