PGA Tour star Tommy Fleetwood to receive special award: "I'm so honoured..."
European Ryder Cup hero Tommy Fleetwood will be awarded with a prestigious honorary fellowship by Liverpool John Moores University.

PGA Tour star and European Ryder Cup hero Tommy Fleetwood admits he is "so honoured" to be awarded with a prestigious honorary fellowship by Liverpool John Moore University (LJMU).
Fleetwood, 34, will be presented with an honorary fellowship during LJMU's spring graduation ceremony at Liverpool Cathedral later this month.
The seven-time DP World Tour winner was born in Southport, Merseyside, on 19 January 1991.
He now resides in Dubai, U.A.E.
Fleetwood is receiving honorary fellowship as a result of his sporting achievements and support of LJMU's world-leading School of Sport and Exercise Sciences.
The English golf hero launched his Tommy Fleetwood Academy in 2019 to broaden the pathways available to bring more people of all ages into the game with locations in Southport and Dubai.
The World No.10 will be joined during LJMU's graduation ceremony with his wife Clare, 56, and the rest of his family.
The ceremony will be extra special since it marks the 50th anniversary of the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences.
According to LJMU, "Tommy will join a special group of more than 300 honorary fellows from King Charles III and His Holiness The Dalai Lama to noteworthy sportsmen and women such as Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson. The fellows become part of the extended university community to represent its activities and advocate on its behalf."
Fleetwood said ahead of receiving honorary fellowship: “I’m so honoured to receiving this recognition from Liverpool John Moores University and specifically the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences.
“As a professional sportsman, I am very aware of the benefits of research and insights, from biomechanics to sports psychology, that help elite athletes to continuously improve. I hope I can contribute in some way to LJMU’s continued leadership in sport and exercise science.”

Professor Mark Power, LJMU Vice-Chancellor, said: “I’m absolutely delighted that we will be conferring an honorary fellowship on Tommy Fleetwood during our spring graduation ceremonies.
“He is an outstanding sportsman and someone who shares our values and commitment to giving back to his community, both through his academy and by giving his time to support us here at LJMU.
“It is absolutely fitting that, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, we welcome into our fellowship a great friend of the school whose contributions are hugely valued by our students and staff.”
Fleetwood is seeking his first PGA Tour title at this week's Arnold Palmer Invitational at famed Bay Hill.
He spoke to Sky Sports Golf this week about his goals to finally breakthrough on the PGA Tour and why he knows he will have to continue to play well this season in order to make a fourth European Ryder Cup team this September.
