Cameron Young has withdrawn from this week's PGA Tour event.

Young was one of the favourites to win the World Wide Technology Championship in Mexico.

But the 27-year-old has decided to skip the FedEx Cup Fall stop, citing no reason.

The official PGA Tour communications team have confirmed that he has been replaced in the field by Sean O'Hair.

Max Greyserman, Doug Ghim, Matti Schmid and Harris English are now among the event favourites to win.

Young is nearing the end of his third full season on the PGA Tour. He is yet to win, earning him the moniker of best player on Tour without a title.

World No.1 Scottie Scheffler also had that unwanted title before he broke through at the 2022 WM Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale.

Young made a blistering start to his professional career.

He finished in a tie for third at the 2022 PGA Championship and also placed second at the landmark 150th Open at St Andrews.

He failed to make the Tour Championship in 2023 and 2024, but is fully exempt for next season. He is also entered into all of the signature events.

The World Wide Technology Championship get underway tomorrow.

Erik van Rooyen is the defending champion.

The South African stormed to victory 12 months with a blistering back nine performance with his Tour card on the line.

The victory lifted the golfer inside the top 125 in the FedEx Cup. That week he was playing for something bigger.

His college teammate Jon Transamar was diagnosed with melanoma in 2022.

Van Rooyen desperately wanted to win so he could rush back home to be with Jon in his final days.

Jon died aged 33 on 16 November 2023.

"I've spoken about Jon a lot, but another thing I learned was even though this game means so much to me, it doesn't really matter at the end of the day," he told reporters this week when asked what he has learned about himself.

"So there's much bigger things in life and that's a lesson I've carried with me these last 12 months."
